Business meetings

1/12/09– 5:23 pm? Made it to the pool by 6, had to eat
something, there would be a full house and then some; most
just floating and talking. I did my ½ mile, talked with
Nicole about Charles, I’d find myself sorely tired and
hungry; I didn’t bother to go to the gym. I had appointments
today, I’d see the Acting Director and mention my resume’,
he’d tell me that it was one of 50 submitted and that they’d
be reviewed soon. 10 of the 50 applicants would be selected
for interviews soon, I wasn’t too impressed with the man, I
am just not imbued with confidence by someone that refuses
to take care of themselves; there’s only so much blaming
someone else for your life.
I don’t blame my drug addiction on my Parents, although they
more than likely were a serious portion of the impetus for
that self-abuse, I made a choice I didn’t need to make; I
wasn’t smart enough to concentrate on the positives present.
I left the Y heading home to eat, I believe I saw Kathy at
the traffic light I’d stopped for, I was tempted to put the
car in reverse and confront her; I then remembered she’s on
medication or should be.
I had an appointment with Mildred Elley, seriously
considering their Massage Therapy degree program, I
overstayed my appointment; Shauntya was easy to talk to. I
even ran into a guy I’m familiar with, he’d attended a
church Charles attended years ago, he thanked me for
allowing him a chance to vent his frustrations about his
Son; I’d asked how things were going with him and he helped
me find Shauntya.
I had to call Dr. Winter’s office to tell them that I’d be
late, that I was merely 5 minutes away and would be there
directly, he likes the fact that I allow him to call me
Charlie, he knows that very few ever get that privilege. He
told me that my diction sounds good, no slurring on the f’s
and g’s, he asked how people were responding; what they were
saying. I told him Cassandra called the teeth pretty, how
most merely noticed something was different and couldn’t put
their finger on it, I’d have to tell them that I had teeth;
this suggested the fit is flawless. I told him how the teeth
are not level, he noticed, made mention that he’d have to
send them back to the lab; he also mentioned the fact that
my diction is none the worse for wear and perhaps I should
continue on this path. I understood his reasoning, the level
issue wasn’t a contract breaker, I also mentioned how much
space the acrylic is taking up in my mouth; I equated the
mouth with an amphitheater and how important space is in
comfort and practicality. He was happy for the input, he
took the plate and began making adjustments, I’d also
mention not enjoying the act of eating with the plate
inserted; how my palate and taste buds suffer. I’d suggest
the possibility of a polyurethane/rubber blend for the
section of the plate that melds with the palate, even
peppering that blend with holes to expose the few taste buds
in the palate, making the eating experience tolerable. He
loved the idea, in the event that there’s a change in the
plate construction in the future, I’ll be knocking on
Harvey’s door for my percentage of the patent. His
adjustments allow me to wear the plate without adhesive,
we’ll see how that relates as the night wears on.
