Halifax 2nd day

Arrived yesterday after an uneventful trip. Walked to the
corner of Chebuckto and Oxford which took a bit more than
a half hour on a hot humid afternoon. Pleasant evening
involving the bridal couple, their parents who in fact met
each other for the very first time! Seemed very pleasant.
The bride's sister who lives in the suburban Halifax with
her two dogs and two cats hosted her folks overnight.

Carlo's parents had been there a few days. Retired for
about five years, they're just back from a Scandinavian
cruise. Very proud of their son. The father, Felix, cooked
Filopino food -- very tasty. The mother Nora had in fact
met me at his medical school graduation where I'd been
gowned (as in capped and gowned) part of faculty. He'd
apparently talked of me when a student and noted in
response to a question that a dramatic patient had caught
his interest when rotating on in patient psychiatry --
she'd been my patient and he'd helped me with some of the
issues incurred by an offward doctor.

Anne's parents from Monckton seemed very cordial and
friendly - happy with her marriage, mother Jacqueline and
father Bob -- last name Le Blanc which is very common in
the region, having stemmed from Acadian origins. Both
daughters were adopted but for a reason that I learned a
few years ago but do not now recall, Anne for sure is
Acadian too. Her sister, Mary, took her husband's name of
Breakspear (very Scottish, with a first name of Faergus).
They spend much time apart, as he works for many months at
a time in Qatar where he is in charge of a dredging
operation in that harbour.

Today we did a tour in an amphibious vehicle commissioned
for the Viet Nam war by the US army. Good and informative
time that entailed hearing about the horrendous explosion
that shaped the city. City clock time frozen then has
remained at 9:05.

Achy all day, both of us. Recovered though with hot tub
that felt blessed relief indeed.
