25 weeks, Kyle's party, Mother's day, etc

You are 25 weeks pregnant. (fetal age 23 weeks)

* The unborn child is 34 cm in length and weighs almost
690 grams.
* Baby is around 13.5 inches in length and weighs 1 and
half pounds.
* Bones are becoming solid, hands are now fully developed.
* The brain is growing rapidly, the brain cells are
starting to mature.
* The sexual organs are fully developed.

Baby is now pretty well built portion wise even though it
still has little body fat and its skin is thin. The
structures of the spine begin to form -- All 33 rings, 150
joints and 1000 ligaments. The tiny brain is growing
rapidly, and the baby is starting to fill the space in your
uterus. The uterus is now about the size of a soccer ball
and mom looks pregnant.

Twins 25 weeksYour baby's hands are now fully developed,
although some of the nerve connections to the hands have a
long way to go. Dexterity is improving. Your baby can make a
fist and clasp objects placed in palm. Exploring the
structures inside your uterus may have become baby's prime
entertainment. Fascinated by the amount of tactile
stimulation a fetus gives itself; it touches a hand to the
face, one hand to the other hand, clasps its feet, touches
its foot to its leg, its hand to its umbilical cord.

Blood vessels of the lungs develop. Your baby's nostrils
begin to open. The nerves around the mouth and lip area are
showing more sensitivity now. Their swallowing reflexes are
developing. Baby can hear sounds outside the womb and the
brain cells are starting to mature also. Already it can
learn and remember and can recognise its mother and fathers
voice.

Babies at 25 weeks of pregnancy stand a 50% chance of survival.
================================

So, all in all, being pregnant is still pretty cool, and not
much of an inconvenience. I'm sleeping fairly well. In
general I still only get up once a night to pee. The peeing
thing is just about the only annoyance. Yay! She's been
kicking more, and around.... 23 1/2 weeks I started to be
able to see/feel it from the outside! I was sitting on the
couch one night before Jon got home and noticed my belly
move when she kicked! Then she kicked the remote, which was
on my belly! It's the coolest thing. On the morning of
Mother's day, Jon was pestering me in bed for sex (ugh) and
he had his hand on my belly and felt her kick for the first
time. Aw! He also felt her Friday night, I think. I feel
like I'm definitely bonding with her more now... and we're
still thinking either Emma Rose or Maya Rose, but I just
feel like her name is Emma, despite the name's popularity
right now. It's kind of annoying knowing that she'll have
like, 8 friends all named Emma in school, but sorry kid,
that just feels like your name! And it's easy to pronounce
and not off the wall.

Kyle's birthday party was held last Saturday. We arrived
around 1:30, everyone was there already and eating. It was a
decent day, with lots of attention paid to Samantha, Laurie
for her upcoming wedding in July, and me and Jon of course.
It was a fun day and Kyle as a 4-year old is the cutest
thing yet.

Mother's Day was the next day, and we spent it with Russ and
Beth. They came to our apartment, along with Steve, and the
5 of us went to the Buddhist monastery up in Kent. It was
packed, and a really nice time, although Russ was in slow
motion and just slowed us all down. We didn't have time to
walk around the lake cause of him, ugh. Then we went to Ed
and Ada's house for her Mother's day bbq. The Nahars arrived
a bit later. It was a typical Ada bbq with all her fancy
salads and the table was just covered with food. I think
Russ and Beth had a good time, though.

Tuesday afternoon (I think) we had a big thunder storm roll
through that caused a power outtage around 3:45pm. That
kinda sucked. When Jon got home we went out to get some
dinner and ended up at Friendlys in Mt. Kisco. It was hard
to find someplace with power, and it took getting that far
down into Mt. Kisco to find them. We had mozzarella sticks,
and I had a salad and grilled cheese/fries, and some ice
cream... it was all so good at the time, but I woke up with
crazy heartburn that lasted ALL DAY. The power finally came
back around 11:30pm that night.

This Friday night Jon and I went back out to Danbury to go
to Babies R Us. They didn't have the line of cribs I'm
interested in, but Jon got to sit in a glider to make sure
he fits and we checked out the car seats, strollers, etc. It
was good.

Yesterday we went to Ya-ara's birthday party in Tenafly with
Ada. It started at 10:30am, which apparently is an Israeli
thing. Ada showed up around 10 at our place and we got there
together at 11. It was fairly boring, and full of Israelis
speaking Hebrew, so we just ate and then left around 1:30pm.
Ya-ara did not open any presents, which was weird. An
Israeli thing?

We got home and I left a message for Heather to see if she
was still up for a visit the next day, today. She still
hasn't called me back. :( I'll call her around 11am and see
if I can catch her. If she doesn't call me by noon, I'll
just reschedule. I know she's a new mom, but still.

We're still waiting for the bank to approve the sale of the
condo. Word on the street is that the owner is totally moved
out. Our mortgage company will go to appraise the unit
tomorrow. I'm just hoping the sale goes through quickly, so
we're not stuck moving as this baby is being born!
