I must be leaving a door open

9/8--12:21 AM I helped Zenzele tonight, she, Dave and I
went to the diner afterwards. On the way to the diner, Dave
asked if I wanted him to leave us alone, I began laughing
and told him no; I continued laughing all the way to the
diner. I haven’t made any attempts to call Charlotte, I
won’t be either, she’s made her choice and I won’t be
giving her time that I can be giving to some woman that may
want to give her heart to me.
9/8--6:21 PM I got a call from Charlotte this morning, we
don’t use terms of endearment anymore, she said she wanted
to wish me a good morning and see how my day was going;
perhaps she thought I may be having a hard time with her
conclusion with Billy or perhaps she wanted to dangle a
carrot before me. I didn’t answer the phone, nor did I call
her back, she left a message saying she’d try to call me
tonight; she did call again at 6.
I let her do most of the talking, it was about nothing in
particular, small talk and I made the appropriate responses
in the appropriate places; eventually she got off the phone
to eat and I got off to soak in the tub.
I don’t expect that we’ll talk again tonight and that’s ok
with me, she told me that my Mother said hi, she worked
with her today and that information surprised me; I may
visit my Mother this weekend.
There seems to be payroll problems, the first I heard about
it was last Friday, it encompassed many more employees
today; I’ve been unaffected to date because I have direct
deposit. I needed to get a jump for my car, left the
running lights on this morning; I’ll need to get new cables
and a thermostat tomorrow.
I was asked to work tomorrow, it’ll be hand-work with
Michelle, I don’t like her and I don’t need a reason. She
came to ask if I’d work a couple of hours tonight, I said
no, she seemed surprised by my answer and repeated the
word; I repeated it for her so she wouldn’t get it wrong.
She has catch phrases she uses on the people that work with
her, one “chop-chop” from her and I will get up and leave
the building. I’ll be surprised by who shows up for work
tomorrow, what with the payroll situation as it is.
9/9--5:03 AM Pretty called me last night, I was sleeping
before 11pm, a soak in the tub and a touch of Sambuca saw
to that. I called and left messages for Bea, haven’t heard
from her, she probably went to visit friends to get out of
the house. I got a thank you e-mail from Zenzele, I think
she wanted me to ask for her phone number or offer mine,
neither one of these things happened.
As careful as Charlotte and I seem to be when we talk, I
think she understands that we’ve passed a milestone and
that we probably will never pass that way again, we’ll have
a talk and I’ll let her know without a doubt; my heart is
off the table!
Time to shower, I’ll get breakfast ready and head to work.
I’ll also do laundry, wash my car and get those cables.
1:29—PM I worked until 12:30pm, Michelle wanted to go off
about the mistakes she was finding in the book we were hand-
collating; too many hands touched the book for her to be
able to single anyone out. All Michelle had to do was check
the books before punching holes in it, whatever problem she
found should have been rectified by her, it served no
purpose to waste time pointing fingers.
Mike worked this morning, he said he was learning disabled,
I think he and his girl both have attention deficits; she
also needs to be the center of attention.
Michelle began getting on my nerves, I’d planned to work
until 2, which changed to noon quickly and she did thank me
for coming in. I’d gone to the bathroom earlier, she was
looking for me, Chuck (the supervisor) told her that I’d be
back; his way of telling her to relax and back off.
Michelle tried to put me on the spot, a pop quiz to
determine if I knew what to look for when checking the
book. The book she showed me had the back page upside down,
it was also missing the last section, she only noted the
back page; a few seconds later she realized that the last
section was missing. Instead of highlighting my
inattentiveness, she highlighted her ignorance and it was
noted by those present.
