Random Thoughts on the World

Cindy Sheehan...please go away. I'm not being callous.
I'm not being bitchy. I just think it is time that you
take a new tactic. You're pushing me into disliking
everyone who voices displeasure against the war - and that
is just shocking. So please. Just stop it. When you
start hurting the cause more than helping it, time to go.
And, well, I'm sorry, but politics is business and
business is business and as harsh and insensitive as this
may seem, especially given the words...It's time for the
left to cut its losses and set you loose because you are
hindering, not helping. Please...I'm sorry...but please
just go the hell away. Put yourself and your passion and
your determination to better use somewhere else. Thank
you.

Crispy Creme doughnuts, facing dminishing returns in the
U.S. (and a poor marketing and expansion attempts into
Canada, at least Ontario, three of the six outlets have
already closed, thankfully, the product is so terrible!),
has opened its first outlet in Hong Kong. Watch out Hong
Kong, or you'll end up as fat and disgusting as the rest
of the West...(are you even the West...you are part of
China...but I just cannot call you East...the rest of
China, yes...but Hong Kong, we know you are not really
Chinese, not entirely...) Welcome to the club, my
friends. Just for the record...oh wait, I knew it looked
wrong. Just for the record...Krispy Kreme doughnuts are
TERRIBLE...twice the crap, and even taste at best.
Personally, I find the taste lacking too, but who the hell
am I but among the minority it would seem?

What company is it on the petrol side of things, up in
Alaska, whose pipes have corroded? I suppose it doesn't
matter. Seems they are all really much the same, anyway.
Exxon? Mobile? No matter. Double-digit billion dollar
profits and they can't spend some millions to keep their
pipes in order, to keep the supply going, to stop
environmental problems caused by terrible leaks, but
everyone can tell us to drive less, conserve, conserve,
conserve.

Cynics would say it's a non-veiled way to try to control
the population just a little bit more, but I can't really
buy totally into that. But what I can do is yell this.
When do the people and corporations and entities that can
really truly make a difference to our world, climate,
situation, future, stand up and take a stance and do what
is right? I know it's not always a stock-in-trade to do
the things that are less fiscally attractive to a
business, I get that. But there is a time and a place,
and that time and that place is now. In Canada we have
this thing called the "one tonne challenge" I think it's
all about getting each person to reduce their yearly waste
by one tonne. Just say every person could do that. With
a population of what, 32, 33 million? That's 32 or 33
million tonnes. You are going to tell me that that will
make a bigger difference than enterprises cutting their
waste outputs? At least one celebrity sort of in tune
with the people has been recruited for this campaign.
Great. How about we pressure the companies, instead?
Think about it. It's ABSURD, in so many respects.

You know what else is absurd? Votes to kill a gradual
increase in the minimum wage when the people who get to
vote for or against so rarely vote against their own pay
increases. I can't speak entirely for the U.S., but it
happens often enough up here, too. Municipal government,
provincial government, federal government, they all get
raises and we don't get to vote for or against them. And
they get huge raises on top of their rather nice
salaries. But somehow, the people making six dollars an
hour don't deserve a pay rise of ten cents or a quarter or
whatever the hell it was. Ridiculous. Absolutely
ridiculous. I'm pretty sure there aren't a lot of people
who would ask their elected representatives not to vote
for a raise for the people but for a raise for the
representatives. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. I
make decent money and so does my boyfriend and we live in
a decent apartment and have a nice car (which would be a
decent car if I hadn't got a phenomenal deal on it)...so I
guess you could say we have a decent life...But it doesn't
feel like it should. Typical middle-class complaints, I
suppose, but I'm chronically short of money, never can
afford a holiday even for a weekend to the next town,
don't have any savings to speak of...And that's me and my
decent life. So, on second thought, no, I don't suppose
people making much less than me require a raise, not even
a small little one. No, I don't suppose so at all.
Jesus, what was I thinking?

And by the way, for anyone tempted to ask, "What would
Jesus do?", I have an answer. Jesus would probably tell
you to shut the hell up and stop saying stupid things
like "What would Jesus do?" Honestly? He'd use his brain
and figure it out for himself or does some crazy miracle
to make it better. I can save you some hassle. Don't
bother asking what would Jesus do because all you really
need to do is this: use your brain and stop being
obnoxious. PLEASE.

Alright, you know what? Enough random thoughts for right
now. I'm fucking tired already. [-sighs softly and looks
so tired-] Me and my big mouth, we have a lot more to say
[-smiles-] but right now...I have a headache and I'm going
to try to get to bed soon.

Until then...

K2
