More Phuo, busy July

Thursday July 13 2006
10:56am EDT

So, last Friday Jon and I ended up going to see the Phuo
again at Jones Beach. Jesse got Jon a free ticket (um, 3rd
row center!!) and I grabbed a nosebleed ticket. We picked
up Jesse and his friend Madeline in Brooklyn and drove to
Jones Beach. I've never been there before -- it was so
beautiful! We met up with Tim, Richard Gehr (he wrote The
Phish Book), as well as Chad, Rachel, Steve, Chris, and
Steve's old roomie Alexis and her husband Alec.

After some hemming and hawing about whether or not to go
in, Jon, Madeline and I went in. Madeline didn't have
anyone to sit with (Elley had the other ticket next to her
seat and wasn't there yet), so I felt bad for her. Jon sat
with me through the Duo set up in the nosebleeds, then we
met up with Chad and company and I sat with them in the
handicapped section. I had a good time talking with
Rachel. We never really had time to chat much one on one
any other time we've hung out, so it was cool. I really
like her and I'm glad she's joining my bulletin board.

I dug the Phuo set, but Trey seemed to lose energy near
the end. At setbreak Jon came up and joined us. I was
hoping to hear from Brooke, a girl from my bulletin board,
but I didn't. Phil was ok first set. At that setbreak I
decided to text Brooke. She called me -- they were down by
the bathrooms... I told her I was up in the nosebleeds and
would get down as soon as I could but not to wait too long
cause I knew setbreak was almost over.

I took the elevator down and couldn't find them. I called
Brooke but she didn't answer so I texted her that I
couldn't find them and oh well. I feel like it just wasn't
that important to her or to the other girls from my board.
I feel that they have their own little clique... I post
from time to time in the NYC forum and never really get
much of a response from them. They're all friends in real
life, and I feel like such an outsider, even though I'm
technically part of their region. Oh well.

As I was getting back to our seats I realized they were
playing Scarlet Begonias -- sweet! Jon pointed out Beth
and Russ for me so I went to say hi to Beth and ended up
dancing in her row, also with Elley and Madeline. That was
kinda sorta awkward until Jon came up to hang in the row
behind me with Russ and Jesse.

Midway through the set Jon and I went back to our seats.
It was just good to be with Chad and Rachel. They're our
favorites :)

We left as the encore started to beat the traffic, just
Jon and I. Jesse was going to fire island after the show
and Madeline had a ride back, I think. We got home around
1 or 1:30am I think.

Saturday morning Jon got up to play tennis with Harel. We
were hoping that Chad and Rachel would still be at Chris'
house during the afternoon so we could hang with them a
little more, but they had to go back to Steve's in New
Haven early. So, after tennis we had a quiet afternoon
just chilling at home. The time passed SO quickly. At 5 we
left to go have dinner with Jon's dad and his friend Jeff
at Ruby Tuesday.

Jeff is an odd man and I didn't really like him. He
referred to "queers" at the opera at one point. Pfft.
Dickhead. And he was kinda argumentative during a lively
debate we had about scientology (comparing the cult-like
aspects of scientology to the Catholic church -- I mean,
neither organized religion is that great, but c'mon).

After dinner the boys went to see Superman and I came
home. It was nice to have the place to myself.

Sunday was a lazy day. Tim took the train to our place and
got there around 2-ish. He and Jon took off for the Bethel
Phuo show. Since the trains stop running around midnight,
they had plans to leave the show by 10:30 so Tim could
catch the last one.

Heather called me that afternoon... we talked about her
wedding, I skirted the issue of us leaving early by
changing the subject (she kinda brought it up) -- but I
assured her we had a good time. She mentioned that her
boss gave her the week off after her wedding. I asked if
she did anything special. She goes "yeah, we made a baby!"

!!!

Heather's pregnant! She had just found out the day before
she called me and said I was the first non-family member
she told. AWWW!! See? I knew Heather loved me. I was super
happy for her, I know they were kinda sorta trying. So,
w00t! Though I had kinda hoped we would be able to be
pregnant at the same but, but still. Good for them. I sent
her an e-card the next day congratulating her and Rob.

So, anyway, that night I went to sleep and woke up at 2am
and Jon still wasn't home. I about had a heart attack
cause he should've been home by then. I called and he was
5 minutes away. He texted that Tim wanted to stay longer
than planned. I was pissed, thinking Jon had to take Tim
all the way back into the city (adding 2 hours onto his
driving time)... When he got home, I realized that Tim was
probably crashing on our couch.

Yup.

Jon came to bed, and once he told me Tim was in our living
room, I was pissed. I mean, I love Tim, but I have such
sleep issues. I barely slept the rest of the night. Plus,
Jon was starting his new position the next day and I was
pissed for him that he'd be exhausted all day.

Got up late, snuck out of the apartment without having to
talk to Tim. Sleepy ALL day. Jon came home that evening
and immediately went to bed. So I had to just hang out by
myself. Oh well.

ANYway, so my week so far has been decent. Yesterday we
had some rain and thunderstorms. Then my co-worker Jen
came in and said there was a tornado watch. Chit chatted
with Jen and Bonnie and we decided we'd leave to go home
after the rain let up. Jen drove us to our cars and we
chatted more -- I really like them! I'd honestly love to
hang out with them more outside of work (even though I
supervise Bonnie -- oh well!). So, whatever, I finally got
out of Jen's car and into my own and drove home.

The skies were really cloudy but the rain was light. I got
home around 3:30 and made some food. Put on the TV but the
news wasn't on. Around 4 the weather people came on to say
that the doppler radar was indicating a tornado near
Tarrytown, headed for Hawthorne, where Jon works. I called
him, he was excited! I was like, dork, it's not a good
thing!

So, yeah, a tornado ripped through southern Westchester
county. http://www.midhudsonnews.com/News/tornado-

Pictures are up temporarily at www.lohud.com.

Jon got home around 5:45pm and said he could see the line
across the highway where it came through. I saw it this
morning... like the monster/security system from Lost came
right through the trees and jumped over the highway.
Crazniess. No serious injuries or deaths reported, though!

Today at work is quiet. This Saturday we're going to Long
Island to spend time with Jon's aunt and uncle. Sunday I
think Jon said he needed to do something, can't remember
what. I want him to get the couch from his mom's tv room
to our apartment!

Next Saturday Marcus and Meredith invited us to their
going away party. They're driving cross country in an air
stream for like, a year or something crazy like that. Then
the weekend after that Tim invited us to dinner for Lisa's
birthday on that Saturday and Sunday is a joint graduation
party for my sister and cousin in Albany. PHEW. Good thing
I've taken a bunch of long weekends this month!

Next month Jon needs to travel to Chicago for training for
work... and he needs to do something else, I can't
remember. Then sometime in September we'll go to Austin,
TX to visit his brother and Jenny.

PHEW.

Aight... I need to run and pee. I ate canteloupe earlier
and that stuff makes me pee every 10 minutes.
