Trouble Breathing
2006-04-13 18:35:44 (UTC)

This just in...

Got this from Bob:
"There is a certain irony that, while posting to your blog
about everything going wrong, your blob entry seems to get
cut off."

Yeah, I just noticed that myself...what the hell? That was
a good rant too. I'd finish the rest of it, but there's no
point now...my steam has vented.

I've been a bad, bad blogger recently. Not updating...not
checking messages. I've just been too busy, tired or sick
really. But I'm going to try harder...I promise.

I'm in pretty good spirits today, despite having to call in
sick to work yesterday with a nasty 24-hour stomach bug. It
was awful, but I feel a lot better today...not 100 percent,
but better. It was the kind of bug where you can't be more
than five paces from the bathroom, which sucked.

Things are progressing, and for that I'm thankful:

--The heinous Top 20 contest, which was riddled with
problems and chaos this year, is almost complete and out of
my hair.

--We got two very frustrating issues of Casino Journal out
the door. Whew! I could spend the next 5,000 words talking
about all the crap we went through..but I won't.

--So far, this issue we're working on now is going "okay."
Not great, but the problems thus far have been minor. Talk
to me next week and see how my mood is then!

--The master bathroom remodel is 95 percent complete and
the hellacious mess we had is now all clean. Reg and I took
a bath in our new bathroom last night. It was nice.

--The backyard sprinklers have been fixed, so I can water
without the hose now.

--The front yard is looking better. But the back yard still
needs a ton of work.

--My Mets have started the baseball season 6-1, and have
the best record in baseball at this moment, so I'm very
excited so far!

--Reg and I are FINALLY taking a real vacation in June.
We're going to Maui for seven days and we're staying in a
suite right on the beach. So if you want anything from
either of us between June 4 and June 12, quite simply, you
can go to hell! (I mean that in the nicest of ways, mind
you).

--I'm slowly starting to get social again, though it's been
hard with everything that's been going on.

--I'm having to miss Dan and Kim's wedding, though. I have
to take part in a mandatory meeting. Guys, just curious--
why hold your wedding on a Thursday afternoon?

--May is going to be a completely swamping month for me. On
May 1, I close out our June issue; on May 2 through 6, I'll
be in Memphis/Tunica for the Southern Gaming Summit; May 11-
12, I'm helping to judge marketing awards here in Vegas; I
then get a week to work on my magazine; then the next week
(May 22-26), I'm entrenched at the Gaming Technology
Summit; After that is Memorial Day; then I have three whole
days to get the rest of my magazine out; the day after
that, Friday June 2, is mine and Reg's third anniversary; I
have that following Saturday free and then we're off to
Maui!

In other notes/news:

--Dawn got into the culinary school she wanted to in NYC.
Yay for her!

--It was good to see the handful of peeps I did at
Jennabea's birthday gettogether. Though I feel bad having
to explain why I haven't been around more.

--I've been worried about Reg lately. She's seemed both
physically and mentally drained. But I'm absolutely
thrilled to see her spending more time with Heather.

--Saw a guy being confronted at gunpoint by cops the other
night.

--We found another brown recluse in the house. I killed it.
I hate spiders.

Life is a rollercoaster...hang on!
