Email to Shelley....1

Sometimes i email my friend/adopted mother (hehe) shelley
about my feelings, my day, whatever. Some of the emails
seem like journal entries so i will start also posting
them here i think.

Hello. It's almost 6 am, and i can't sleep so thought
i would write you. I saw last night where you had
called and messaged me. Yesterday was a busy day,
though i sort of felt reclusive, like i didn't really
wana talk to anyone. There are just so many things
runnin through my head. But I got a lot done. I spent
all morning unloading all my stuff and then putting it
away (so nice to have everything out where i can use
it, i was living out of bags at my moms). Then grannie
and i ate lunch, she made a pot of homemade soup, then
we decided to go out for the afternoon. We went over
to Russellville, bout 25 minutes from here, where
Justin and i lived. Thats where my college is and
where he worked at the jail. We went to Lowes and
grannie bought some new flowers to plant (she let me
pick purple ones hehe) and to wal-mart where i bought
the dogs a dog house and a blankie, so that when they
are chained up outside they can take a cozy nap. We
also took some of my winter clothes to my storage
unit. Then we came back and grannie took me out and
treated me for dinner at this little bitty cafe. I was
bad, i had fried chicken and french fries with melted
cheese. Hey it was a long day!

Life is simple here. Grannie lives in a town of about
1200 ppl. I lived here till i was 15, then moved away
with my mom when she married my step-dad. So, i pretty
much know everyone and they all know me, i will just
be adjusting to the smallness! Just yesterday, one
neighbor brought us a cake, and another some fresh
strawberries. And how convenient that there was some
whipped cream in the fridge! Things like that happen a
lot around here. Last evening at supper, everyone that
came in and out of the cafe knew my grannie, and they
discussed how things used to be, when they could go to
the movies in the city and buy their ticket, popcorn,
and coke for 25 cents. I never knew a time like that
of course, so i just listend to the stories and chowed
down on my fried chicken!

Grannie is going to work today. 80 years old and still
works 3 days a week! I'm tellin ya, this old lady is
spunky. I can't hardly keep up with her! Sad isn't it?
She made me breakfast and lunch yesterday, and today
she will work all day then she said she's coming home
and make a big supper. There are alot of good things
about living here. I have my own room and my own
bathroom (don't have to share with 2 brothers here!)
and, grannie has a maid that comes every friday that
does all the cleaning. Changes all the bedding, does
all the laundry, everything! And the neat thing, she
used to be my nanny when i was little, and she is the
sweetest thing. She will eat lunch with us when she is
here and just tell story after story. She's and older
black lady, and she loves to watch soap operas on the
tv while she cleans. Her name is emma.

The only hard thing about living here, is adjusting to
my grannies ways. My mom is very unstructured. With
grannie, for every meal the table is set, you don't
eat in your bedroom (this ones the worst!) and dogs
are not allowed on the furniture. (thats why they stay
in my room behind a gate! but i let them on my bed).
It will take some getting used to, but i will adjust.
It's so quiet and peaceful here, and thats the
important thing.

I think the dogs may work out ok. I plan on chaining
them outside in the grass for most of the afternoon
when the weather is nice. I'll let them eat out there
so they don't stain grannies carpet (they are messy
eaters). They can get in their house and nap if they
want to. Then the rest of the time they are in my room
with me behind a baby gate. Usualy elvis is under the
bed chewing a bone and Rusty is on the bed under a
blanket sleeping. Rusty is already doing better since
he's away from all those people. He's a very sensitive
dog and takes a lot of patience, but he's worth it.
When he trusts you, he is just the sweetest most
loving dog. Grannie says she knows someone who might
keep one of them, probably elvis since rusty takes a
lot of work, but the lady already has other dogs, and
he would live outside all the time. I just can't stand
the thought of him outside and cold and lonely
wondering why i abandoned him. I told her thanx for
the suggestion, but if i was going to keep him outside
all the time i could do that here!

I think i will go visit my dad today. I need to wash
my comforter (it smells like doggies) and grannie's
washing machine is too small. Having a farm, my dad
has about the biggest ones you can get, since he
changes clothes 3-4 times a day b/c he gets so dirty
going in and out of the chicken houses. They have 2
weener dogs too, Dexter and Buster. They are
miniatures, one 10 lbs and the other 8. They have
some big outside dogs too. Stetson and Shedaisy are
blue heelers, cookies is a brown-spotted dalmation,
monica, well, they don't really know what she is,
except 3-legged, then there is pee-wee, some sort of
odd looking terrier. I will probly take rusty with me
for a visit. He's very confused about all this and he
needs some special attention. Elvis is used to the
roving around with me. He knows that no matter where
we go, i will be there and take care of him.

Anywho, sorry didn't mean to make this so long! Think
i will try and go back to bed for awhile. Hope you
have a good day!
