My Thoughts

Friends

I think in life you have to have certain type of friends.
Ideally, we want our friends (our labeled 'best friends')to
know everything about us, understand us, and be completely
compatiable with them. But I don't think that's the case.
Sure, it sounds nice to think you've had one single (or
two) best friends throughout your life, but I think you
have to have friends for every circumstance. One is not
enough. For example, my friend Dan in England is someone
whom I can talk to about when I really begin to question my
purpose in life. He's very philosophical. You know what
type I'm talking about (the one that can make sophisticated
jokes only you and him can understand). Then there's Jenna.
She can always make me laugh. She's the type of friend you
turn to when you have guy troubles. She'll go on forever
giving you her point of view and what to do. Heh. Makes me
laugh just thinking about all the funny hand gestures she
does when I tell her something shocking. And of course, I
can't forget about my Monica. Monica knows everything about
me, she knows my past, my present, what I want to do in the
future... The best thing about it is that we think alike
(hence the "great minds think alike" quote in our
highschool yearbook). I can talk to her about anything..I
mean anything. I think everyone needs different friends for
different situations. You need a friend who knows your
history/past, you need a friend who can be serious, and you
need a friend who can make you laugh about the silly things
in life. Sure, one 'best friend' can do this, but then it
woulnd't be as fun. Different friends, different people,
different viewpoints. Life is definetely more interesting
knowing you can turn to more than one friend.
