knock at the door

may i gently suggest that because you are atheist you do
not have the scholarly biblical understanding nor
spiritual understanding to know the subtle differences in
denominations? there are numerous denominations and some
are just and forthright and others are downright cultish.
The cult ones would like you to believe that they
are 'just as Christian' as the the rest, but this is
really just a lie to pull you in and away from God. It is
a lie that Satan creates through use of man on earth to
seperate us from our creator.

what i was complaining bitterly about was my boyfriend
wants us to try a new church-- which i am not opposed to,
but i am opposed to a mormon church, because the mormon's
have a different belief system. They do not believe in
celebrating holidays such as birthdays or christmas. To
not celebrate our saviour's birth is just plain weird.
They have also added to the bible another book called the
book of mormon, which is NOT God's word but instead
is 'other teachings'. To a Christian, this is blasphemy.

really, i was being slightly sarcastic saying that i would
go to a free methodist or something along those lines. you
would have to have attended several churches, really
fellowshiped with some other Christians within the walls
of their church to understand the subtle differences.

and when you look at the grand scheme of things, you are
correct: it really doesn't matter what the religious
denomination is... as long as it's Godly. And quite
frankly, not every so-called religion is.

i was raised in an atheist home with a father who forbid
me from going to church at all and who in fact, til this
day, will make fun of my faith and tell me i'm mindless
and stupid for following a God who doesn't exist. Despite
being brought up with philosophy as my guide and no
spiritual guidance, I was called by God at age 18. I was
watching a Billy Graham show and knew without a shadow of
a doubt that God wanted my attention. It was like a quiet
knock at the door-- here was this concept, one that I
never 'knew' before and was very foreign, strange and just
not my thing!

I tried to ignore this for several years and continued to
live a very hedonistic lifestyle-- drugs, sex you name it--
I was a college girl on a mission of having as much 'fun'
as she possibly could. But God kept bringing people into
my life, good, holy, nice people who all seemed to carry
this same message of hope and salvation-- and it took me a
long long while to truly get it. God hunted me down again
and again, experience after experience, quietly, subtly
and completely won my heart. Just a little knock at the
door saying Let Me in Your Life and he wouldn't leave.
Even the times I would peak thru the door, slam it shut
and pretend he wasn't there. He would just knock again--
someone else would come along, and make such an impact
upon me.

If you pay attention to the people who come along in your
life and try to find the meaning behind the 'why' they are
in your life, I bet you will find that God is trying to
get your attention.

Some of the best Christians started out as Atheists.
C.S.Lewis is a famous example.

knock knock.
