My Life Is FIlled With Quiet Nights In

Rushed Through History

Open warfare is a thing feared by many
Yet stopping it feels like giving up
How many men will have to lie, broken
Screaming in pain in a blood-soaked field
Before we realise giving up can be honourable
Men waiting in trenches on both sides
Knowing that defending one's country is an honour
Yet honour has a price, to be paid in full
In blood, sweat, tears and pain
But how can a war be a war
If men are not killed?
And how can a country be a country
If men will not die for it?
In those mens' minds they're on the "right side"
Until it is them lying on a field
Blood flowing, never ending
Every second like an hour
Every hour like a day
Waiting to be found
Hoping to be found
Replaying every happy moment in their lives
Their wives
Their children
Wondering how a nation so great
Could show so little humanity
But how can a war be a war
If men are not killed?
And how can a country be a country
If men will not die for it?
