Snow day

Monday February 21 2005
9:59am EST

I can't believe I haven't updated in a week.

Um... last Tuesday I think I did an intake for the clinic
and did 2 hours intead of 1. That went well, went to my
1-3:30 training. It was ok. A video conference, but the
first 40 minutes we didn't have audio so that sucked.
Nothing exciting Tuesday night. Wednesday I have no clue
what I did. Thursday I skipped the clinic cause I did two
hours Tuesday... had meetings and such. Nothing big. Friday
I had a meeting from about noon til almost 3pm. BBL brought
lunch in. It was our strategic planning meeting... bunch of
BS really. But a good way to kill time on a Friday. I left
right after the meeting.

I believe I took a 30-minute walk in the freezing cold when
I got home. I need to get back into exercising... seriously.

Saturday we hung out during the morning and then around
12:40 or so we left for Albany. We hit a crapload of traffic
on 84 in Poughkeepsie (a trucker told us it went for at
least another 8 miles) so we pulled a U-turn. I wanted to
hop on the Taconic since it wasn't that far away, but Jon
told me I could get there getting off an earlier exit. Yeah,
I couldn't. We just crawled along stupid Rt. 9 with tons of
traffic and lights and it sucked. We met back up with 87 but
we still added about an hour onto our driving time. That
sucked.

We got to my brother's house and played with my nephew. I
swear he is the CUTEST kid I've ever seen. Seriously. He's
awesome. We had to leave, though, at 4:15 to get to the
restaurant for our tasting. We were early, which is good.
The tasting went fine... the lady was helpful, and the food
is good. We'll probably go with them. We didn't commit to
anything right there, so we have to get back to her. After
that we ran around looking for a Brueggar's that was open. I
hate that they all close at like, 6pm! We found one open til
7, got our bagels and then headed home. Got home in about an
hour and 45 minutes.

The two books on Borderline Personality Disorder that I
ordered from Amazon came. Did I mention that I've diagnosed
Jon's mom with this? Yeah, I know I am not a psychiatrist or
anything, but I swear this is what she has. I bought the
books for Jon but I don't know if he'll want to read them,
so I will. I read a little before bed, but I was super
tired. Passed out around 11.

Sunday we got up, Jon went to drop off our paper to a family
friend's house. The father is retiring and his kids placed a
full page ad in the paper (Jon sold the ad to them) and
since he doesn't get that paper, his daughter asked if Jon
could bring it over. They weren't home, so we left it by
their door. Then we went to have our eyes examined at the mall.

My prescription changed a little, so I picked out new frames
and new sunglasses. It's such a pisser that they don't take
my insurance.. I had to pay about $500 for the exam and the
glasses. Ugh. Jon's script didn't change but he got new
sunglasses and I think he only paid $90 for everything out
of pocket. After we get married I'm totally getting on that
plan. So, the glasses might be ready today. I'm so excited
-- I love my new frames. I've been stuck with frames I don't
really like for 6 years. I'm also getting the
anti-reflective stuff on them, so that'll be awesome. YAY!!!

After that we picked Doug up and drove down to the city to
see The Gates in Central Park. First of all, Jon drove
around for like an hour looking for parking. That sucked,
because it was like 5pm by the time we finally walked into
the park. I was SO not impressed with those things. They
were just orange curtains... a total waste of money. But
whatever. 3 other friends of Jon's met us there and we all
hung out for a bit. Jon and I walked to a Starbuck's to pee,
the bathroom was disgusting. Then we all went to Candle Cafe
for dinner. We had a 1/2 hour wait so we went to a bar next
door and hung out til dinner time. I was greatly
disappointed with my meal. A tempeh lasagne. It was pretty
bad. And I had to pay $15 for it. Ugh. Next time we're doing
Red Bamboo -- you can't go wrong with that place.

The rest of the guys wanted to see a movie so Doug went with
them and Jon and I came home. The snow had started to fall
while we were having dinner, and I was SO hoping for a snow
day today. The roads were kind of bad coming home, we saw 3
accidents on the Saw Mill, including one that had just
happened where the car was just sitting in the left lane.
That was scary. But we made it home and went to bed. I let
Jon get up first, and I checked to see if we were closed.
"The acency is closed today due to the snow conditions" YAY!
Back to sleep. Said goodbye to Jon, told him to be safe
driving. Lazed in bed for another half hour, got up, fed
myself, the cat, and the birds, and caught up on my mail.

PHEW.

Anyway, I need to go shower and then I want to spend a good
portion of the day on the couch, reading under the electric
blanket. mmmmmmm... I love snow days.
