I hadn't planned on going shopping again today. Really, I
didn't! But the choice was to go today or wait until
Saturday and as there are not many week-end shopping days
before Christmas which means big crowds, I didn't really
want to go on Saturday. I went to Costco and stocked up on
baking items, put gas in the van, picked up some on-sale
items at Fred Meyers, went to the bread store to get day-old
bread, and took a peak in the fabric store. Doing this cut
into my pie-baking time but thankfully (?) I was up at 4
a.m. this morning and before I left at 8:30 a.m. I'd baked
apple and blueberry pies, made 4 dozen cornbread muffins and
a cherry cheesecake. Yes,I plan on taking a nap this
Last Sunday Pastor Ruth talked about light. Light has many
features--it's beautiful, fast and powerful. But she used a
word to describe light I'd never thought of before -- light
is silent. This week I've tried to be attentive to the
silence. Stillness is something I need as this new month
and new season begins.
"Be still, and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10
