The Problem with Dewey

The Dewey Decimal System is discriminatory. The numbers 210-
290 are designated for Christian Works. 290-299 are for
the "other" religions. Furthermore, a lot of those numbers
for Christianity aren't even used; and since the 1960's or
so, Eastern and New Age religions have taken off in the
United States. This has lead to major overcrowding in the
290's.

It seems to me that the Dewey Decimal System is old and
outdated. Librarians should have serious discussions about
moving their collection to the Library of Congress
Classification System or the Universal Decimal System.

I'll write more about this later.
