Melancholy Mister Milo

I hate myself! Why, why, WHY did I just close my diary
window before submitting the entry? I was SO close to being
done! I hate, hate, hate having to re-write entire entries!
They are always better the first time around.

I laughed my ass off in church today. Father Joe was
visiting from LA, and told this funny story about how
Father Gary got mad at him when he ordered 1000 little
paper-bread pieces for communion. Father Joe hates when
they run out during the mass, so he figured better to have
too many, and then they can store "the darn things" in the
back! Father Gary didn't agree. Can you imagine? 1000
pieces? That's insane! That's enough for a bajillion
masses! Well, maybe...100 masses. At least.

So today was my fourth time cantoring, and it's feeling
pretty good. It's a difficult thing to get the hang of at
first. But it's fun once you get over the initial nerves.
Even doing back to back masses, which seems like it would
be a drag, is actually pretty cool. I feel like I have a
better understanding now, of how the mass is supposed to
flow. It's really hard to follow when you are not raised
catholic.

I am starting to mentally prepare for the upcoming season.
We have that new music director coming in, so I want to
have everything in smooth running order, so that if he is
wanting to change a billion things, and upset the status
quo, we won't lose our grip on things.

Father Joe told another great story. He was driving up from
LA, and was stuck behind a huge scary truck that had a
bumper sticker that read "I'm coming back to get you!" That
initially sounds pretty hostile, but in tiny, tiny letters
underneath, it said "Love, Jesus." I thought that was a
fabulous story, and a fabulous bumper sticker. I am not a
HUGE fan of most religious bumper stickers, but that one I
like. It's clever.

I took Milo for a walk in the backyard today. He loved it,
and ate lots of bugs and lots of grass. He'll probably be
puking all afternoon, but in his little kitty brain, it ill
be worth a few minutes outside the confines of the house.
He's a great cat. He's tired right now, and resting his
sleepy head on Webster's Dictionary, absorbing lots of new
vocabulary. I feel bad for having to leave him alone so
much. He seems so sad when I leave him, and so very, very,
happy when I return.

Speaking of backyard, I had a great time watering today. It
was so hot, so finally I got carried away with the hose,
and started jumping around in the wet grass. Within seconds
I was soaked, in my nice dress pants....but it felt really
good! I conclude from this...er...experiment...that I don't
goof around nearly enough. For those 3 or 4 minutes, I
didn't care a bit about the shoes or the pants, and it was
just really...fun.

OK, now that you all think I am losing my mind...TRY it. I
bet none of YOU have danced around with a waterhose
recently. Do it!

I went to an opera yesterday, "La Vie Parisienne", that was
being put on at school. It was long, long, long, but there
were some really good voices, and the plot was interesting
enough.

OK, gotta go meet Shelley, hopefully! Haven't seen her in a
while, and she said she was going to stop by!
