Preparations

This morning I baked two strawberry-rhubarb pies and a
cherry one, made butter cookies in the shape of stars and
decorated them with red, white and blue sugars and baked
some cupcakes, decorating them with little paper flags on
toothpicks.

I took a brief nap this afternoon with the idea of spending
the evening hours waiting to going to the airport doing the
last of the cleaning when it's cooler.

The fireworks are driving the neighbor's poor dog bonkers.
He barks, he yips, he howls, he cries. I wish they'd bring
him inside so the poor thing didn't have to suffer,
especially as we're all suffering with him.
