basswood tree blooms

As sun dapples the leaves of the basswood tree just out my
window
so her complex words illuminate my life.
As now the basswood tree has bloomed, the long awaited
blooms,
I smell such sweetness, and not only I but this represents
a sense to which the bees do testify
in this cold spring and new summer, in which the blossoms
delay.

New vistas loom, new complex feelings resume.
In their bed he leans over and her soft lips respond
and both emerge from their long and dreaming sleep.
They embrace long and long together, front to front,
he strokes her hair and caresses her facial lines,
he kisses each eyelid, one by one,
and they move together, skin to skin,

Fulfillment of their wonder and their dream
though nothing's what it seems

but consideration for the other is the sweetest smell of
all.
All else palls
