(Eli) Last Thursday’s Surprise Show in Dahlonega …

So, we got called last Wednesday, by a gentleman named BJ,
and he asked us if we would like to play a show in
Dahlonega the next day.. we scrambled and got everything
in place and agreed to play it. So, we all drove up
separately the next day, Stu’s car was overheating in
traffic on 400, and he was the last to get there, but he
got there in time. We got unloaded and such and then
waited around for a while, a lot of the cool Dahlonegians
came and chilled with us… and then the first band, “The
Backroad Psychos” went on. They were rockabilly.. and I
thoroughly enjoyed them.. the guitarist was really
awesome, and they were nice guys. We went on right after
them, and played a short set.. and as we were trying to
get the soundcheck, Seth’s guitar messed up. So, he tried
the Tele for Blue Sunday, but it sounded terrible (as in a
cat scratching a chalkboard) for some reason… so he tried
the les paul.. and it was crap.. so he went back to his
guitar and ducktaped his cord into the jack.. and we moved
on through Bleeding Absolutes, and his guitar was cutting
out.. it had to be frustrating. The sound system was also
pretty small, and the vocals weren’t really making it
through, but that’s just part of it.. at least until we
get our pa system. At any rate, Seth got his guitar to a
manageable position, but it was still pretty tough, cause
he couldn’t move around a lot and such… after that we
played 7 x 70 = 490, Little Cloud Dog, Arcade Parade, and
ended on Stargazer Vs. Shoegazer … after us, Habersham
played.. they write really really great songs, in my
humble opinion.. Queen Victoria is just an incredible
song, and they played it.. Stu and I were yelling the
lyrics back to them.. it was awesome. After they were
done, we got packed up, and Chasing Victory got up and
completely rocked the place to death… they were awesome..
and their new hardcore leanings (from their Bailey Drive
days) are awesome… Not only that, but they are awesome
guys as well. We wish them nothing but the greatest on
their new relationship with Mono Vs. Stereo… At the end of
the night, “Venedetta” played.. they were hardcore.. and
we wanted to stay and check them out.. we heard one song,
but had to go, cause I had to get up at 4 and go to work..
as it was, we didn’t get home til 1… so that’s the night.
Oh yeah, and Beth Lindsey fell on her butt……. And
Charlene “poser” – I’m glad you got out to see your
favorite band.. traitor…
