No news

No news from the job interview yet. I hope to hear one way
or another before we leave on vacation next weekend because
for all my technical prowess I am completley unable to
figure out how to check messages on my answering machine.

My mother is officially in therapy as of this past
Wednesday. My sister went with her and apparently the
therapist talked to her briefly as well to help get filled
in from another perspective on the situation. Great, my
wacko sister filling in the therapist. They are both
talking about how my dad is supposed to call this guy to
also set up an appointment, but as far as I'm concerned
that's missing the point. The important point is that mom
is going, and good for her. She's also going out of town
this weekend to meet up with her sister and sister's
husband. I think that will be good for her too.

My father, still living with his parents, is now going to
move into this little tiny shack with one of his renters who
also happens to be a partner at our firm. It's a long, long
story that's really good because it involved the police
coming ot our office to pick this guy up because his
girlfriend swore out an affidavit for domestic violence
against him, then they reconciled but she never called to
check on the affidavit and they came to our office and took
the guy away in cuffs. haha. That's just a little tiny
part of his story.

And when I say shack, I mean it. A couple of my parents'
rental properties are front-and-back units where a garage or
smaller structure on the back of the property was turned
into a rental unit. You can't do that any more around here,
but they can't make people tear down the units that were
already built so there are a bunch like that around here.
So this guy is living in one of these small back units.
We're talking one bedroom that's about as big as a walk-in
closet, one bath that's *really* no bigger than a closet,
and total square footage that probably would be appropriate
for a playhouse for a four-year-old. Basically, we're
talking something similar to a dumpy 0-bedroom studio
apartment in New York.

And there are going to be two guys living there. At least,
we're assuming that's what he's going to do until one of his
larger rentals is open. I mean, my parents don't have a lot
of rental proparties, just a few, so he's lucky to have
anywhere to go to since he seems determined to move out of
his parents' house. And that's good 'cause if he's really
nailing some chick on the side it's something my
grandparents, in their mid-80's, shouldn't have to deal with.

Fun fun.

No big weekend plans, which works out fine.

I had my second-degree black belt test in Hapkido Wednesday.
I had told my mother and sister about the test weeks ago,
but of course they forgot and didn't show up. My wife
stayed home with the baby. So I thought I would have some
family there, but I wa wrong. Some guy testing for his
brown belt? His family was there. It was just his brown
belt test, and the guy is older than I am, so it's not like
some kid where his parents come to watch. His wife came and
I think he had a brother or a guy friend who came. Not me,
I'm just there by my lonesome with my video camera set up on
a tripod. How pathetic that no one in my family can muster
up the interest to come see the first test since my black
belt test a year ago. Oh yah, none of them went to that
test either. If I'm still here, my next test will be in
approximately two years. Maybe someone will come to that one.
