for fans of american idol only

funniest episode of american idol ever! i love how america
is completely ruining what the show is supposed to be. i'm
completely serious. it's the most entertaining case of
utter sabotage that i have ever witnessed. at first, it
seemed like some sort of segregation thing with the two
races split up like that. and i honestly did think that
george was going to be with the three "divas." but then i
realized what was going on. they told him to join the
group that was safe, but they never said which group that
was. so he walked over to the three girls, thinking, like
the audience did, that they were safe. but no! haha!
sweet victory! america ruined the whole concept of
american idol. i have several theories on this (which i
devised after 1)i got over my excitement that john stevens
is still in the competition and 2)i stopped laughing about
my realization that john stevens is still in the
competition).

theory #1: adults who watch ai like the "best singers."
this would include fantasia, la toya, and jennifer (but not
jennifer anymore!). a lot of adults who watch don't even
vote. just take my mom and ken for example. they complain
about the outcome of the show, but they don't bother to
vote. that's like complaining about who wins the
presidential election and not voting. so if the adults DO
vote, they are likely to only vote once. teenagers, who
will probably vote for jasmine, john, and diana, vote
numerous times. for instance, i used to vote about 10
times each for both johns, so this week, since jpl is gone,
i voted approximately 20 times for john stevens.

theory #2: people are voting for conttestants who have
likable personalities. fantasia and jennifer, the bottom 2
tonight, are just plain annoying. they're both arrogant
and have been known to talk back to the judges. and they
have weird facial expressions.

theory #3: it's not about being the best singer in
america. i mean, do you honestly think that kelly clarkson
is one of the top few singers in the country? yeah, she's
good, but of course there are many people who are better.
the thing with kelly is that she's likable. she was always
sweet and accepted the judges' comments with a good
attitude. that's why the show is called american IDOL and
not america's BEST SINGER. britney spears is a terrible
singer without technological interferences, but she has
turned into an idol because of her image. it doesn't
matter that she can't sing.

theory #4: it doesn't matter who the winner is. in the
past two seasons, contestants who weren't even in the top 2
have had success. that rj kid has a cd out, kim locke has
that new single about the eighth wonder or whatever
annoying thing that is, and that marine guy, josh, has a
record deal, too. ok, even william hung has had success.
but the most obviosu example is with ruben and clay. ruben
won, but clay has had way more success. people like clay
more than ruben in general (which is why i still can't
believe that ruben won).

theory #5: you don't have to be able to sing all different
genres of music to have success. that's the whole point.
it doesn't matter that john stevens can only sing his best
when he's singing rat pack-type songs. that's how he could
have his success. has garth brooks had to rap to be
successful? no. has jay-z had to turn to mainstream pop
to get where he is? of course not. has avril lavinge had
to write songs to be a teenage superstar? obviously not.

so, to everyone who gets angry about the outcome of the
show from week to week, does it really matter? my mom and
ken were honestly angry this week. ken absolutely hates
john stevens. of course i don't think that john is
the "best" singer in the competition. but he's the one i
enjoy seeing the most every week. his voice is my favorite
because it's different. i would buy his cd before anyone
else's. i love that type of music that he's good at
singing, and that style has drifted by the wayside. it
needs to be resurrected, and john is the one who can do
that...hopefully.
