Solitude

My promise was written in flesh
Thorns of it remain on mine.
It serves as my warning,
My caution that entails neglect,
Neglect upon the ones that cast me aside now.
Trivialities collect and amass.
No longer trivial and without meaning
Its claws grasp my shoulders
They grip with the power of emotion
The crow that claws at my back has no eyes,
It is only driven by the memory of the pain
Pain that always seeks revenge,
Revenge upon I.
Its energy never becomes relinquished by the fact,
That its wild fury must be inflicted before there can be
calm.
Like the calm after the storm
And the horror that’s left in its wake,
Soon forgotten by time
And abandoned by society
Whilst existing for ever more in solitude,
Solitude is forever I, and never you.
That is, until we cross once more.
