Sweet Echoes Of Mad Candy

Eternally Searching

Early blossoms color the coming season. The grays of winter
tear away, and the breezes of spring blow from the
cloudless sky and carry petals of these premature floral
displays to the ground, still littered with autumn’s
leaves.

I pick one up. The petal, a scarlet pink at one end and a
withering white at the other, is warm from the sun’s mid-
day heat. Unexpected. A wind delivers a chill and a
sweetened decomposing fragrance. I steal the petal from its
surroundings in a futile attempt to capture inspiration,
already fading.
