Behind these big brown eyes

Who am I to judge someone elses life?

It all started in my HDF 409 class...its like no other
class that I've ever taken before. It's turned into more
of an open discussion forum on moral issues eventhough the
class is supposed to be about family diversity.

So we start to talk about gay marriage as it applies to
the evolving image of the "normal" family. Today, the
teacher asked us who would vote for the legalization of
gay marriage and who would not. Now, I have never had a
problem with homosexuals and I've never thought they were
wrong in any aspect, but I've never really deeply thought
about gay marriage as right or wrong...until today.

This is my diddy(is that a real word?) about gay
marriages...why the heck not? Who am I to judge how
someone else "should" or "should not" live their own
life? I'm not any better. Why does society think that
they know what's best for an individual's personal life?
I don't get it. And exactly what is "wrong" with being
gay?...someone please tell me, cuz I just don't see it.

The way I see it is, we can cultivate a society of love or
we can cultivate a society of hate. Right now, by
labeling gays as morally wrong people, we are cultivating
hate. Now, I know that in the Bible it speaks of
homosexuals as being in the wrong(and thats why a majority
of people believe gay marriages are morally unacceptable),
but how can anyone truely believe in their hearts that
Jesus would want us to to hate anyone??!?! Jesus was all
about the universal love for everyone... was he not? It's
a fact that the Bible that we read today has been
translated in a ton of different ways than how it was
originally written in the ancient Aramaic language(the
language of Jesus and the Apostles and Disciples)...Look
it up on the
Internet...there are scholars that devote their life to
theses discrepencies.

So, with that in mind...how are we to believe that Jesus
really wants us to hate/disapprove of/oppress gay people?
Could it just be that the white, bigoted, ignorant, scared-
of-what-they-don't-know-about, males of the Catholic
church just translated the Bible into something that Jesus
never would have promoted...hateful and un-loving
beliefs? I find that hard to believe. I am a firm
believer that Jesus promoted love in every aspect of his
life and I personally would never believe in anything that
would promote hate in any way.

Well, with all that said...I approve of gay marriages.
And I challenge everyone out there who doesn't to examine
why they don't and examine whether they want to live a
life of love or hate.

P.S. I'm sorry this is so long and I hope I didn't scare
anyone away, but this is an issue I feel very deeply
about.

Thanks for reading with an open mind! Don't hate,
appreciate! And for God sake, just spread da love! Peace,
I'm done.
