My sometimes coherent thoughts

first time

since this crazy, terrible, heart wrenching, unfortunate
arrangement with Chantelle being between Arizona and here
at home with me, that I haven't cried my eyes out when we
had to part ways ...

we didn't do much this weekend, but the time we spent
together was more good than bad. Nicole was around for
most of Saturday afternoon. We all went out to lunch
at 'Fridays' (where she'd never been) and then to Target
where I bought some make up on clearance and Chantelle a CD
she wanted, then back to the house where Nicole helped me
go through all my bills so I could see exactly how much I'm
in the hole for - which turns out to be almost $8000! -
Chantelle played on the computer while we were doing this
and then Nicole left about 8:00pm. Chantelle wanted to do
something with her friends, but things didn't pan out, so
we went to a late, late show (the last one at 10:25pm) and
saw 'Mystic River' ... it lent to many thoughts for topics
of discussion afterwards and she is a very good
conversationalist; very intelligent and perceptive.

Sunday morning we lazed around then showered, packed things
up, went to pick up her friend and I took them to Castle
Park (much to Chantelle's surprise - and ever so slight,
but nonetheless, obvious disappointment - because she was
fully expecting to go 'shopping!' ... still we had a good
time. I got her and Madison $10 worth of tokens and kinda
followed them around watching them play the games. I felt
good about the decision to go there because after a while
Chantelle actually starting laughing and acting like a kid,
not immature, just like the kid she should be. We even
played a couple of games of air hockey together - and she's
GOOD! - she beat me both times!

I took her friend back home after that and we went to
Glendale where we were meeting my dad at 5:30pm. We had
about 45 minutes to kill so we went to Barnes and Noble
where I bought myself a CD (from the clearance bin, 'The
Best of Sweet'!) and her a book from the Teen section that
she wanted (called 'You Don't Know Me'). By the time we
had paid for the book it was time to go meet my father. We
actually got there a few minutes before me dad, which was a
good thing. It gave Chantelle a few minutes to read the
first couple pages of her new book to me ...

then my dad arrived and we loaded up Chantelle's stuff into
the truck and I hugged them both, telling them I loved them
and off they went. No tears from either Chantelle or me.
Hmmm, is that good or bad? Not quite sure ...

well ... that's about it for my weekend with Chantelle
