the angry sea

lower the sails and hide the fear
of the storm that yet will come
roaring in the windy night
and throw me to the sea

o, how the water will rise and fall
and my captain will urge his men
to have faith in his choice and
to stay the stormy sea

the sky is dark, the gulls have gone
they wait in comfort at the shore
and here am i, weary heart,
at the mercy of the sea

here comes the horrendous storm
men are awakened from below deck
with faces pale, and legs gone weak
they gaze at the angry sea

like a warrior in the face of the enemy
they behold death, and feel emptiness,
emptiness and acute fear
take me, will the sea
