Doh! I just broke my ankle bone, and now have a temporary
makeshift cast on it, lol... And it came from nowhere...I
was lying on the couch, watching Aliens on DVD, when I got
up and all of a sudden couldn't walk on my right foot
without feeling a sharp pain going through it. I thought
nothing of it, and tried to go to bed, but the pain soon
became unbearable....whatever I did to it was serious. . .
but, I was too tired to do anything at that moment, and
just rolled over , and the pain subsided, and I fell
asleep, hoping that I just pulled a muscle or something and
that it would go away the next morning. It didn't, and it
hurt just as badly as it did the night before. So, after
debating over it for half an hour, my wife called someone
we knew to take me to the ER and get it checked out, since
I couldn't believe how painful the SOB was (my ankle, in
this case). Sticking my foot in my old OTS boot (for
support), I hobbled into the car, and then hobbled into the
ER and signed in, all the while wincing in pain, and
noticing how dramatic my limp must have seemed to the crowd
(yes, it was full) in the ER. I thought I was just being
silly, but it was safer to check out why it always hurted
whenever I stepped on my right foot... Finally, after some
X-rays of it, the doctor came in and showed me the
fracture...I was completely taken by surprise...I would
have never guessed that it was broken. They wrapped it
with gauze, and put a temporary cast on it, and told me to
stay off of it (with the help of the crutches that they
gave me) and told me to follow up with an orthopeda-
whateveryoucallit. After getting home, and then waiting an
hour before the prescription was filled, I ingested the
pain medicines, and promptly fell into a drug induced sleep
for pretty much the entire night. I only took one dose of
the Naproxo-whatever, and after reading the side effects,
and the warnings on it, I sort of concluded that I wouldn't
be taking that thing again, because, for some reason, the
pain in my right ankle went away, and I experienced the
extreme dizziness that it warned about....
I was supposed to work tomorrow, but called in and
explained my predicament ("That's what you get for playing
around," they said....) and just left it at that. I'm
supposed to tell 'em later whenever I can be available
again....
I have to wait til monday to call the orthopedi-dude and
make an appointment.....
I start school the week after this one....
i have to turn in my car tomorrow night at the auto-body
shop to get it repaired after a fender-bender last saturday
night....
Okay, what else can happen in the next couple of days????
