blurb

We were speeding along a lonely stretch of road in the
middle of the Nevada Desert. It was night, and the top was
down on the beat up Cadillac that was purring along at a
steady 85 mph. Your feet were propped on the dash, and you
were painting your toenails a sparkling green that
reflected in the moonlight. I looked over and said it
looked like fungus growing on your feet. You told me to
fuck off, and that it matched your dancing dress. I flashed
back to last night, and a vision of that scrap of material
hiked around your waist as I got you from the back
fluttered across my mind, and I shut up. Suddenly, that
green on her toes was the color of all things sexual and
pleasurable. I tore my gaze away from your long, long legs,
and turned back to the empty road in front of us. A hundred
miles to Las Vegas, now. I reset the trip meter, and
counted the miles off as you bent foward and blew on your
toes, as if your breath could do a better job than the wind
billowing around us. We pushed on, closer and closer to
glittering lights and dancing girls, and something more
concrete than you and I.
