Style of Dance

Today, for the NSW Schools Spectacular, as one of five
dances, was Hip Hop mode. Which meant freeing myself from
the constraints of Contemporary Classical, without actually
freeing myself. It also meant adopting a performance
attitude.

This, I think, is closer to what I can do, than Jazz.
There're no big steps; big arms; big jumps; big turns; just
grounded, fluidity & lock, centred movement.

Which is fun.

But now I've got severe stomach cramps -- the stress of
learning five dances on top of the other. I cannot even
consciously remember two of them; and one hasn't even been
learnt yet.

Today was fun, because it was different to all-that-jazz.
Yet, it was still a rehearsal for performance, and a
performer I am not, particularly not a dancer. I came to a
revelation today... after waking up from a heavy nap
wherein I was rehearsing in my dreams and woke up with my
throat burning from my stomach -- that I love to dance
because I love Dance, not Dancing, as in Dance the art.

Now how about that for confusing one's approach to life?
Dancing instead of doing dance. It's a relatively easy
confusion; but a dire one in the long run.

I hope I'm right. I hope I can get the dancing performance
part over with so I can get on with doing dance again.
