Leg in Stitches

Hello Everyone,

Many of you have been asking about my surgery, so here's
the scoop.

I went in Tuesday, and my leg had been acting up all
weekend long, like it knew it was about to be fixed so it
was throwing one last temper tantrum. After doing the
ultrasound before the surgery to mark up my leg and all
that, my doctor noticed how much had happened in just a
month. Lots of backflow was accumulating in other parts of
my legs and there was a lot in my ankles, as well (not a
good thing). So he told me that he would probably be doing
more than one incision (which is what we had planned on),
but I was pretty okay with that. Truthfully, I just want
all of this to be over and done with so that I can get
back to my normal life and not have to go through this
again. So I told him just to do what he needed to do.

So I was waiting for my turn for the surgery room with Mom
#3 and I was pretty okay with everything, not really
nervous or anything. Then they made me take out my
contacts and put on my pretty blue hospital hat and those
sexy blue hospital slippers (I already had the great form-
fitting gown on), and they started wheeling me down the
hall. It was a very surreal experience, especially since I
couldn't see anything without my contacts. I got into the
surgery room, scooted myself over onto the table, and
waited for the anesthesiologist to do his thing. I was
only supposed to do the twilight sleep thing, kinda like
being passed out after a lot of drinks, but they said that
I was still moving and moaning and twitching, so they
ended up doing a general on me. So I had to get tubed and
everything, which really sucked because my throat still
hurts two days later, but oh well! I woke up in the
recovery room and basically freaked out, shaking and
crying and begging to talk to my mom. Not that Mom #3
wasn't extraordinary, but that I just really wanted to
talk to my mom. So they got my mom on the phone for me as
soon as I could drink and pee they let me leave. On the
way to Cleveland from Canton, Mom #3 stopped and got me a
milkshake from the fast food restaurant that I hate to
mention, and then we got my meds at Walgreens. Let me just
tell you, Vicadin is some good stuff. ANYWAY, I didn't
sleep that much because of the pain until about Wednesday,
but I watched a lot of Alias and ate a lot of Friendly's
Ice Cream, and had a great time with Fam #3. After kind of
tenderly examining my leg through the soft cast, I can
feel 5 incision spots, all on my inner and back of my
right calf. So I have a lot of ice on those right now.
LOL. But at least hopefully everything is all fixed.

Chris came by Wednesday night to his family's house and
was kind enough to bring me back to my apartment in Akron.
We had a great talk on the way down and I think we finally
found that brother-sister bond that we have been looking
for. Then Anne and Eleni came down from JCU and stayed
with me for a couple hours, and then Mark came as they
were leaving and let me fall asleep in his lap, which was
definitely the comfort I needed. It was just wonderful,
and he was so good with me. I was definitely gross and
disgusting and extremely drugged up, so I give him a lot
of credit for putting up with that! LOL.

Next week I will be going back to the hospital for my
checkup, and I get to take off my soft cast on Friday to
check out my leg. I am really curious to see what it looks
like.

Alright, that's about it, plus I am getting really tired
from the Vicadin I took about a half hour ago. Time for a
little nappy!
