purple star

i am

my mom found this in a folder a few weeks ago. its from my
sophmore year of high school. the date is january
29,1998. i wrote it for mrs. alexander's english class.
here it is:

i am a smart girl who wants to see the world.
i wonder what i will be doing 15 years from now.
i hear the singing of a small star.
i see a giant wearing a mask at a masquerade ball.
i want to travel and see everything worth seeing.
i am a smart girl who wants to see the world.

i pretend i am in a plane on the way to france.
i feel god looking down at me.
i touch the clouds while i'm flying through the sky.
i worry that i will die before my time comes.
i cry for people who have lost loved ones.
i am a smart girl who wants to see the world.

i understand that i will not see the world for years to come
i say to live life to it's fullest.
i dream that i will make my parents proud.
i try to play my best in the game of life.
i hope that everyone is ready to start their life.
i am a smart girl who wants to see the world.

even then i knew what i wanted. its so funny how much you
forget, unless its documented. i didnt remember writing
this. i still dont. but the fact is... some things never
change. i really am a smart girl who wants to see the
world.
