and so it begins

I only had one class today - the prof is a guy with
a squeaky voice whose research apparently centres on
computer role-
playing games. That's not so bad.

I also think my initial intimidation and "I'm not worthy"
fears are starting to dissipate. I'm pretty sure I'll be
fine (and probably happier than I was in business).

Tomorrow I audition for the opera workship. They perform
scenes from operas with costumes, lighting, etc. and it
would probably be fun (if time-consuming and schedule
shuffle-requiring) if I could secure a part. However,
probably 75% of the auditionees will be sopranos (like me)
and also music students (not like me), so I'm not getting
my hopes up. My singing teacher recommended that I sing a
Donizetti piece that begins nice and langourously but ends
in a lot of tricky coluratura stuff. I'm sure time is
limited, so with any luck, they'll cut me off before I have
to start screeching out those high B's. I think my singing
talents are roughly equal to those of the music students my
age, and even a chorus part would be enjoyable. So, wish me
luck.
