(Lunchbox) Did we actually write a song live onstage? Yes - At Alison's B-Day Party

Well, this is a little late, but to finish up the weekend
for Stu…. A few things to add so far: I have an explanation
for the Riverside Drive thing - the former lead
singer/guitarist, J.D. has left the band. I know they will
never be the same, but we wish the "new" band and J.D.
nothing but the best. Also, when he mentioned the blow-up
obstacle course, he didn't mention that I actually ran the
thing. Craziness. Also, of note, we played "Hardcore
Song" as our soundcheck at Umapalooza..
So, we headed up to Berkmar UMC towing the trailer with my
Dad's yellow truck. Made it there, got unloaded, mucho
thanks to Jason., he's the man. We really appreciate
everything that he does for us, it is amazing how much
easier he makes our lives. So, we met up with Patrick, the
youth pastor, Alison, of course, and Alison's cool
parents……… So we got set up and soundchecked… Alison
introduced as "The best band in the world" - she's
obviously delusional. So we started rocking out - keep in
mind that several of us have had no sleep, and some only
fitful sleep…. So we did our best to make Alison's b-day
special. Thanks to all the kids who came out, and to all
the forum community who were able to make it… (some people
in other states can be forgiven) …….. so we started the
set…. And played the favorites, then we dedicated the new
song, "Drama for Dummies" to Alison, since we still don't
know how to play "Happy Birthday" ….. and then for some
unknown reason, we just made up a song onstage, and it
actually sounded decent, I think we are gonna finish it
up.. but yeah, we have gotten to the point where we know
what everyone's going to do without having to make eye
contact or anything …….. it's an amazing feeling. I think
that there was some speculation that we had rehearsed the
song and then played it, but there was no rehearsing..
nothing, never heard that stuff before. So then, we rocked
the "Rock Out Song", which was a lot of fun, but it wasn't
the big hit that we expected, plus, Seth hates it.. so we
had to deal with that. Yep yep.. then we got on to
finishing the night with "tha clang" ….. yep yep. We
played for about an hour and half….. and Alison got a lot
of pictures., especially of Stu….. Of course.. We were
then treated to pizza and coke - (which is only bested by
pizza and root beer) …. And some cake and ice cream.
Rock! We were going to play a few more songs, but it got
late….. and we were so so tired……. And we didn't really
have any songs left, other than Rebecca's song, but I doubt
Alison wanted to hear that one… So we got back loaded up…
(please note that when we say that, and Jason is with us,
it means that he did most of the loading….. between Andrew
and Jason, they take care of most of it. Thanks Guys!!
And then we took off, Stu and I in my Dad's truck. We got
a picture of us doing "Westside" - of course…. And then we
went and hung out at Steak and Shake with Jeremiah
(Eskimo), Stefen, Beth, Jason, Michelle, Mary, and Belinda
showed up after a while.. anyway, for those of you
counting…. We had no sleep!! For two days! …. So we finally
made it home… and Stu was going to go home, but he left his
keys in the van, which stayed at the boys' house.. and he
just crashed at tha hizzouse. Awesome night, hope that
Alison's b-day was special. She posted all the 140
pictures on her fansite at yahoo groups, so checkz it out
when you get a chance.
Peace and Hair Grease!
