QUOTE: In daytime now the corn tassels shake out their
sweet perfume and scatter it into the air. At night the
heavy, sweet , unripe perfume of corn gathers like fog in
low places; if you drive past a cornfield in the dark, you
know it is there because you can smell it. And in the
sultry nights of Augusut the stalks snap and rustle as they
grow. ~ Rural Free: A Farmwife's Alamanc of Country Living
