Rantings of a Madman

just some random things

Do you know where the term "upset" came from?? It
comes from a horse that went by that name. This horse was
the 100 to 1 underdog but still won the race, and the
term "upset" just stuck for when an underdog beats a
favorite. There is no point to this, i just find it
interesting how some words just spread like that. I also
found out that the word whine is derived from the
word "whinge" so i'm go to start saying "stop whinging" and
stuff like that, lol, actually probably not, but i'll think
about it. You think about it too, cuz it is some fun
stuff. I also looked up some other words that i saw on TV
today, lol, maudlin and effigy. Maudlin meaning "weakly
and/or effusively sentimental" or "drunk enough to be
emotionally silly" and effigy being a "crude figure
representing a hated person" or just "an image or
representation of something (usually a person)." You can
actually learn stuff from TV if you take the initiative,
lol. i also got a nice family guy quote that makes no
sense, but i'm just going to put... "no, no way, a guy at
work bought a car out of the newspaper and 10 years later,
BAM, herpes." lol, so stupid that it is funny. i think
that the MacGyver quote is better though. "Dear MacGyver,
enclosed is a paperclip, a rubber band and a drinking
straw, please save my dog" then it shows macgyver opening
the letter and putting the three things together and
hitting himself in the face with the paperclip after
launching it with the rubber band. That got away from my
TV being educational thing pretty fast, lol, but oh well,
TV has given me a short attention span.
Song of the day: "clove smoke catharsis" by AFI, black
sails in the sunset is such a good CD, lol
