hesitations with poem aimed at a lady (Z)

Didn't quite have the nerve to deliver the book that went
along with this poem.

Anais Nin to join your Henry Miller

Here’s a book, an offering today,
Something with music as the way
For deepest feelings to gain full description.

Feminine wishes written – too portrayed
Upon the cover and inner pictures within
Seem lined as I learned myself to limn.

Desires and sensations all focused and surreal,
Yet portraying how a sensuous cat might feel.
Not just sleeping, not just there, but real, so real.

I have a guise, X.Y. Auden, whom you haven’t met before:
Not just visual artist, not just x-factor but y as well.
Au means gold, so does a golden aura a future tell?

We sat upon your bed, (not yet made perhaps awaiting)
And read the Miller pictures and on a page, Anais Nin:
I then sought out these novelettes hoping to see therein

Some semblance of those feelings for which he’s, and she’s,
so famed.
Compared to which we two remain restrained, tame, as yet,
as yet.
But still, still, may we strive for something, something of
the same?

X.Y. Auden
