Random Ramblings that Define this Thing

while she was gone

ok, so my friend goes away for this 9 day church work camp
thingy. The actual place it is is about 10 hours from
here. So there is a group of us left back in town who get
really bored. Well, we are also addicted to shows
like, "while you were out" and "Trading Spaces." Short
story short, we decided that it was time her room had a
make-over. We asked her mom, got a color scheme together,
and collected money and crew. So far we have the curtains
made, and a shoping list. Tomorrow, I and a few others
will go over in the morning and prep the room. Then about
noon, the painting will begin.
We are not ones to go half way on any project. We shopped
around today and got the price of paint from 5 different
stores, we picked out some really cool fabric from the
dollar bin, which we made into curtains and several pillow
cases, and started to collect all the supplies we will need
to use tomorrow.
Down comes the rainbow wallpaper border, the sky blue walls
will be painted, 2 white, 2 a really pretty teal, and her
furniture will be painted black with white trim(it really
looks like crap right now). Even the closet and shelves
will be painted.
Time is a major factor. We have four and a half days to
redo her room. it shouldn't be too bad, but the timing
might be a little tight. We have many plans, but with
constraints on time and money, we will probably have to
forgo some of them.
The main goal of the project is to update her room from
that of a 4 year old to one of an adult. We want a space
that is sophisticated, yet a haven where she can hide away
from the world. In addition to the new wall colors,
curtains, and pillow cases, we are getting her new sheets,
more cuddly pillows, and some other odds and ends. We want
to go to some rummage sales later in the week to see if we
can find some lamps we can redo, and some picture frames we
can personalize and put in pictures of all her friends.
So far we have spent $7, and we hope that we can keep the
total cost under $50 or $60. It looks like we might make
our goal. Either way, this project is keeping us occupied
for several days, and has given our parents an idea. The
idea: since they seem to like to paint and be creative,
lets have them paint our houses, because they need painting
and they are bored. But we aren't complaining...as long as
they provide the paint and materials to do the job, we will
be happy to do it, and do it fast.
I'll be sure to note the final cost when we finish on
saturday. Also, i am in limbo waiting to see if i will get
the job i applied for. I haven't had a job before, so that
would be new, and good- seeing as i need the money. So
until next time, lock your doors when you go away, your
friends might decide to redecorate!
