soap opera

alright, so last entry i said that my life wasn't a soap
opera. if you used tonight as an example, then you would
tell me that i'm full of shit. the day started out pretty
normally- Megan and i went to the beach, and Einstein's for
a late lunch, and then we just chilled at her house. we
decided that it'd be fun to go to a concert at Ravinia
tonight cause i thought the Neville Brothers were playing.
so we met up with Kathleen, took the train to Ravinia,
bought our tickets, and walked in to find out that the
Neville Brothers are tomorrow night, and tonight's showcase
would be the Tokyo String Quartet. boy, did i feel stupid.
anyway, we counted our losses ($10 apiece) and decided to
just go back home. on the train back we figured it'd be a
fun idea to make a video and send it to Colleen in North
Carolina. we bought a blank tape and raced shopping carts
around a parking lot and then headed over to a park that we
know of. when we got there, we saw that Kathleen's brothers
and some of their friends were there playing baseball. we
were all in black shirts (a coincidence), so we thought
we'd go sit and watch them for a while. we were far enough
away that they couldn't tell who we were, so we figured
we'd creep them out by not letting on as to who we were.
one of the guys kept looking over at us, so we just stared
at him. finally, we got up and left but decided we should
follow him when he left, just for kicks. i mean, we know
the guy and he's a friend of ours, and once he got home, we
were gonna roll down the windows and let him know it was
us. we were just messing around. anyway, we followed Bill
for a while, and he didn't go straight home, but went way
out of his way trying to lose us. at one point he almost
stopped at a yellow light just to go as the light turned
red cause he thought we would stop. here we were, thinking
it was really funny that he was getting scared, and then
our other friend Doug came up in HIS car behind us, and we
knew that Bill was getting really freaked out if he had
called Doug to help. just as we were about to turn behind
him at a stoplight, we saw this cop car on the side of the
road, and right away it signaled trouble. another cop
pulled behind us and started to follow us, so we turned off
onto another road to have four (4!!!) police cars pull in
behind us and pull us over. turns out the kid had called
them, he was so scared, and so we had the car searched
while we explained to the police that he was a friend of
ours and we were really sorry, but we didn't realize he'd
get that freaked out. i mean, we weren't swerving around,
and we weren't trailing right on his ass or flashing our
brights or anything like that, we were just following
him..... anyway, they talked to him and he didn't press
charges. if he had, THAT would have been pretty ridiculous,
especially once he found out who we were. he was probably
feeling as stupid as we were once they told him. i can't
believe it came to that- even if he couldn't tell who we
were on the baseball field, we are unmistakeably female, so
to get that scared? i guess we picked the wrong friend to
have a little fun with. thank goodness we didn't get
arrested, though....
