Running the Gauntlet

Its nice to know Grandma has already raised her
expectations of the extent of the achievements that we are
capable of accomplishing. As a matter of fact, before
leaving, she even commented that I'd be better off enjoying
the fruits of my labour with the whole family rather than
itching to get married ASAP, like most of my cousins have
already been doing (or will be doing in due course!).
Looking back, its amazing how she has managed to change her
perception of life for different people.
For some, particularly among the Malays here, I can safely
say at least for the large part of GUYS, their main aim
would probably be to get married. For them, life in other
aspects took a lower priority and the search for a spouse
invariably takes precedence over everything else. That
probably explains the recent fears among the political
leaders (I'm seething anger here) that the Malay community
here are in the danger of forming a collective "underclass"
in society. Just look around everywhere and I can tell you
sometimes how ashamed I am to be a Malay.

For the minority such as myself though, its a question of
being happy with how much you've achieved academically and
career-wise, and also how much you've done for society
(can't forget the Afterlife, dude!). But whatever my plans
are, I've decided to just live for the moment, considering
how much I've been through in the last couple of years,
certainly trying times of my life undoubtedly. After all, I
have this wish-list of "The One" and spies all around the
island to look for the "rite gerl", whoever she may
be...Hahaha!!! As things stand now, I'm perfectly happy
with who I am...and all that Allah have given me.
Alhamdulillah.
