The Awkward Romance news - SCROLL DOWN

(Stu) can we fathom?

wow,
we've all been avoiding this one...but the time has come...

let's see there's the good news and the bad news about this
show.

the good news is: We rocked very hard...met some
bands...and hung out with an old pal...

the bad news is: the show was not advertised well
(understatement)...we lost a hubcap on the way up there and
somehow also managed to screw up the front left tire pretty
bad...(it had to be replaced)...one "band" we opened up for
after driving three hours had brought a bit of a crowd but
they were apparently only into bands that sounded just
like "creed" since they didn't arrive until the band played
and left immediately after...this "band" was also a bit
rude but I won't name names...

ok that's the overview and it should help explain somewhat
of what brings the rest of this posting on...this is
it...this is the one thing I can't bear with this whole
Christian music scene...I love God I love music but I can't
stand how nearly every Christian "band" signed or unsigned
is a bad rip-off or substitute for a popular secular band...
Yes there are the select few who try something new and I
commend them for it...but why can't we be creative? Why
can't we write music of our own? We have the best material
at our fingers and we waste it in an uninspired melding of
our secular rock idols? There is something severely wrong
with that...granted even my band sunder has a few songs
that might sound a bit like one band or another...but
there's a difference in having a similar style and
literally writing a song as if you were that band...God is
a CREATOR! He created everything in existence and he did
not clone...every creature, plant, and atom on this planet
is unique...God created us in his own image...TO
CREATE...let's do that then folks...let's live up to our
self proclaimed title of artist and actually create
something, anything! ...and let's do this to the best of
our God given abilities...I swear I an so sick of playing
shows with other "bands" whose sound can be predicted by
the cover song they warm up to...Let's strive for something
fresh, something new, something better, something
true...something REAL...the next big sound hasn't been
created yet...let's make it ours.
