A Very Long Week
Well it's now Sunday night. It has been am interesting
week for sure. It seems like it's been a million years
since I have really been able to just hang out with my
friends or enjoy myself. One long week for sure.
I am still mourning the loss of my grandmother. On
Friday, we had a small service done by our preacher. It
was nice and touching. I think that's when it hit a lot
of us that she is really gone. But I am happy that her
suffering is over. She is reunited with my grandfather,
her sister, and the rest of the family that loves her so
much. And she's with the Lord.
Also last night, Jevon stopped by to say goodbye...for
now. She is going home and not coming back to UCF. I am
very sad that she's leaving. We made a lot of memories in
the 2 years that we were blessed with. I know that we
will keep in touch and we'll hopefully see each other at
weddings and Stake and Shake and stuff.
Well I have to put all of these things aside, at least for
now. I have a Western Civ I test tomorrow. I feel like I
am somewhat ready, but I am going to get off at the
Library an hour early and finish studying. I was
dissapointed with an 88 on the last test (although I don't
like the essay grading). However, I know that I
definitely need to bring my A game and seriously kick some
In better news, I did get to see my cousin this weekend.
He is always so much fun and I have a great time with
him. We got to share lots of stories and Spongebob
episodes. Nicole called on Friday to see how I was doing
and she talked to him. They seemed to like each other and
she got Ryan saying "fo sho" (me and Nicole's phrase) and
it was really funny. I think that me and Ryan really put
a bright spot on an otherwise very somber weekend.
It appears as though I am going to Myrtle Beach in 2 weeks
to go and bury my grandmother's ashes. That will be a
very difficult moment for all of us and possibly the
hardest part of her passing. We will be together and
hopefully me and Ryan will be able to have more fun
moments and brighten up a somber weekend.
As I usually do, I did a lot of thinking while I was
home. A million things must have gone through my crazy
head. Of course, my family and my grandmother were at the
forefront of my mind. But I also did get some personal
time to think about Nicole, Jevon (I didn't know until
Saturday late afternoon that she was leaving), apartments,
school, work, and various other things. I suppose my mind
was productive. However it wasn't in the circumstances
that I may have desired.
All in all, this has been a week that I won't soon
forget. It started out with the infamous Nicole Day and
the rest was very somber and sad. But sometimes, it takes
things like this to realize exactly how lucky we are to be
in a position to succeed and prosper. Like the old song
and saying goes, "You don't know what you got till it's
