Mental Screamings

Morp - Hand Jive Baby

...Hesistates.....
So last night was prom. I'm sitting here deciding how in
depth I want to go with it. I would definatly go
completely in depth except for the fact that I have people
I know that read this :). Not that I usually have a
problem with this, just I'd prefer not to share some of my
experiences and thoughts and opinions and other mental
wanderings about the night with these friends at present
time. NO, nothing like that happened. Just.....yea. So, I
shall start at the beginning and just go. If I get up the
confidence to add the parts in, I will. If I dont, I wont.

So, my family hosted pre-prom. Pictures were supposed to
start at 5 pm, but that didnt happen. I think we finally
started on pictures at about 5:45. The only people there
at 5 were Kate and her family. The other couples wandered
in between 5 and 5:30. The reason we didnt start until
5:45 is Katie forgot the flowers for her and her date at
her house. Her father needed to go back and get them,
which took about 20 minutes. We did pictures and I wasnt
too blinded by them. My sister was being a photographer
nut with my dad's digital camera. I'm considering making
the garder shot my wallpaper for my computer :) Ex that. I
just did it :) Next, all of the parents cleared out and we
ate dinner. My dad fixed a pork loin, some corn, and
garlic mashed potatoes (mmmmmm......). Katie's mom had
made a strawberry pizza for desert. It is a pie/cookie
crust, filled with some sort of cream cheese/sour cream
filling and topped with strawberries. It was excellent.
Katie's mom also made little name cards and bought candles
for the table. We are still trying to figure out why she
wanted to help so much, but it was very nice of her to do
it anyways.

After dinner, we drove to prom. We took a small pit stop
at Kate's house because she forgot the tickets at her
house. Because pictures were late, making dinner a little
late, we got there at the end of the tail of people. Kate
and I were couple number 140 out of 147ish. We did the
grand march thing. It was ok. I was looking for some of
my friends that I thought were going to be there because
they said they'd be there, but I didnt see them. I was a
little disappointed, but I havent been able to talk to them
yet, so I dont know if they just didnt stop and talk to us
or if they didnt go and if they didnt go, what the reason
was that they didnt. I'd like to give a shoutout to those
lazy bums anyways. Sup Dawn, Stine, and Ryan (who doesnt
read this journal....Or at least I dont think he does....)
We found out that two of our friends, Mer and Ben, missed
being in grand march because dinner ran late for them. Oh
well.

Once the parents cleaned out, it was time for the actual
dance. We had the theme "An Evening of Serenity", which we
continually found amusing, considering the music they were
playing. Fortunatly, it wasnt all rap as it had been at
some past dances. The dance had a oriental type setting to
it. The walls were lined with chinese lanterns. Someone
made a large chinese dragon that they had flowing through
the celing tiles. I didnt look to see who made it. One of
our complaints about the decorations is that some of them
had huge signs right in the middle of them saying who made
them. Yes, the artists deserve credit, but not half the
paintings worth. They actually served chinese food. I had
some punch and an eggroll. They had these creme puff
things called "Crab ragoons" that kate absolutely loves.
We were surprised that we didnt need to restrain her from
eating all of them.

I actually got a fair amount of dancing done. I have feet
that over-pronate, so even though I have insoles in my
shoes to help with the problem, it is sometimes hard for me
to stay on my feet for the full two and a half hours of the
dance. I felt a little foolish because during the slow
songs, even though we did dance, it was kind of at the
1950's required 3 feet between bodies and we chatted about
random stuff as if we were two guy friends in the hallway.
We were looking at some of the wall decorations (3 foot x 1
foot scrolls that had chinese lettering and paintings on
them) and thought "what if they just said mundane things?"
so we decided that if you put all of the chinese lettering
in the room together, it would be a recipie for chicken pot
pie. We spent some of the rest of the night determining
what signs said what about the chicken pot pie. *Edited
out parts about the dancing that I dont want to tell my
friends* Two girls I knew, Carrie and Cassie (twins),
brought their boyfriends, both of whom seemed to be in out
of high school and possibly out of college. They seemed
completely bored.

The dance was supposed to go until 11:30, but it closed
down about 11:15 because only about a dozen people were
left (including us). Everyone else had gone to their own
post prom party already. Some of us were able to take some
of the decorations, but they saved a lot of them for people
who made them. Our post prom was at Kate's house. Over
the course of an hour after we left, people streamed into
her house. It wasnt a large party. Only 8 people, but we
all knew each other really well, except for josh who fit in
perfectly anyways. Josh was the only one who didnt fit
into that window. He went to Happy Chef for coffee with
friends that evidently never showed up. He walked in at
2. Over the night, we watched Lilo and Stitch and Monty
Python and the Holy Grail. Then we all just kinda
crashed. We woke up this morning at varying times, but all
except josh were up for good by 9. We fooled around (not
that way dammit) and ate another of those strawberry pizzas
for breakfast. People trailed out of the house through the
course of the morning. We watched "All or Nothing", which
was a strange movie, and unbearibly long. When we were
done, it was 2. I left at 2:30 and ran errands with a
friend before going home at about 3. And that was a good
meaty entry about prom. I could add more, I could have
taken out some (maybe should have) but I think this is
where I will stay. G'day.
