Cherry Blossom Con

hey everyone! i'm back!

i had a lot of fun, not a lot of food, and even less sleep.
here's the rough breakdown:

Thursday:
i went to my first class and then rushed home to start
my laundry and do some last second errands like buy
deodorant and toothpaste so that i'd be sure to have
enough for the Con. Sandra called while i was doing
laundry, and i got to say my goodbyes. she told me to
have a good time.

at about 12 pm, i ran across the street to pickup my
laptop, where i'd taken it to get the stuff from my old
comp put onto it. I ran back after paying and setting up
a consignment sale for the component parts of my
iMac. :-(

i hopped online to see if nate got my email about
staying with him. he had, but he didn't have a car, so i
was responsible for getting out there myself, with the
included directions. i tried to call to tell him that, but the
answering machine i got didn't have his name on it, but
a bunch of other ones...

i then raced over to wait by Mel's van, sure that i would
be late, since it was a little after 1pm, the time we were
suposed to meet being between 1-130. it was 2 before
we were all assembled. Rochelle(sp?), the other
person who had no room, had tp check HER email to
see if nate was gonna give her a place to sleep too. he
was. he gave her the same phone number...

we got to the hotel, and i got permission to stow my
costume in the Girls' Room, since i was going to be
hanging out with them more anyway. We all went to
Denny's, and i had a milkshake.

After that we went back to the room and watched some
anime on closed-circuit TV. i forget what exactly.

Around 10 i think Della, a friend ouf ours who lives in
Seattle, drove Rochelle and I to nate's, and took Justine
along so that justine and rochelle could get some PJ
bottoms.

We couldn't find an open store anywhere. we got
horribly lost trying to get TO seattle, and then we spent
half an hour driving around Nate's neighborhood
looking for his house. finally, della asked a "hot guy"
(she parked the car and ran around the corner, so i
can't confirm or deny his attractiveness) where the
address was. as it turns out, Nate said "left" when he
should have said "right" and we had not only driven
past his house two dozen times, we were actually
parked in front of it when della asked for directions. the
whole group felt pretty damn smart, nate included. *l*

we unloaded our stuff, and nate introduced us to two of
his roomates...he then said that the number he gave us
was right, just that he hadn't been added to the
machine yet.

he decided to be chivalrus and offered his bed to
Rochelle while he and i slept on the extremely large
couch in the living room.

We watched a little TV before his roomates went to bed.
(one of them offered me a hit off of his bong, but i
respectfully declined) Then nate, rochelle and i were
talking, and it came up (again) that i hadn't watched the
epitome of sci-fi anime shows: Neon Genisis
Evangelion. Nate went to get a VHS and pop it in. we
watched about ten minutes of it before it came out
(again) that i hadn't watched one of the major anime
comedy shows: Love Hina. nate took out Eva, and put
in Love Hina. I laughed and told him we needed sleep
to prepare for tha con but he laughed back and said not
to worry about it...if only we had...*ominous bass
music*

We watched two episodes of Love Hina before finally
going to bed. I didn't sleep badly, but it wasn't a bed so
i didn't sleep great either.

Friday:

we all got up about 7am, an hour before the alarm was
actually set for...Con fever...We got a friend of Nate's to
drop us off at the hotel, and then he had to go off to
work. I felt bad for Rochelle...she still had to register,
and the line to do so was really long, and a lot of it was
outside in our lovely Western Washington
weather...luckily it wasn't raining.

I went down to the Girls' Room and hung out for a while.
Rochelle showed up just in time for us to go off to
Opening Ceremonies at 11am.

I put on my No Face costume before leaving, and it
looked great. asi was rounding a coner some people
saw me and freaked out. One of them begged to get a
photo with me. I pulled some iron pyrite flakes out of
pocket to simulate gold and held it in my hands. they
took the photo and then helped me gather up the
pieces i dropped.

when we got to opening ceromonies the room was
packed. they showed a great welcome video and then
gave us our first disapointment: four of the shcedualed
guests were unable to travel from Japan to see us,
because of the war. stupid Bush...well, time to go, i'll
finish up later. bye!
