Soul-searching.................

Have you ever done something and then later - much later -
realized just how big of a mistake it was? This wasn't
just your ordinary everyday screw up.. this was a major
fuckup... but that was a year ago... now... a year later..
i'm realizing that my mistake was worse than i ever
thought. this wasn't something that i sat and thought out
and planned out... it was something i did out of anger,
hurt, and just plain stupidity. Yet.. in doing so it cost
me big time... and what's worse is that it may have
affected someone else in ways that no one will ever be
able to know for sure. This is something i don't think I
will ever be able to get over completely.. but at least i
learned something from it. I learned that sometimes
sparing someone's feelings isn't always a good thing to do
if you sacrifice honesty in the process. Honesty above
everything. And.. never withhold information even if you
know it's going to hurt someone. Sometimes i just really
suck.

One thing I have been thinking about is how we can support
our soldiers. I'm not talking about being for or against
the war-du jour... I'm talking about supporting those guys
who are doing a very difficult job in very difficult
circumstances. Those are two very different things.
Being opposed to the war or being for it has to do with
politics... leave the soldiers out of that.... they have
nothing to do with it.... they are simply doing what they
are told to do by the current politicians in office... if
you dont' like what they are doing then vote them out...
but don't take it out on the soldiers. Soldiers don't
start wars... politicians do. I digress... Supporting
soldiers is something i feel like we should all do. But
how? Well... one thing that I think they would all
appreciate very much is for us to all live in such a way
as to honor them. By this I mean that we should all live
in cooperation with each other... not be jackasses to
everyone we meet... just be NICE damnit.

I also think that if you want to protest the war, then by
all means please do so. That's part of what it means to
be an American. We have the responsibility to question
our leaders when we think they are wrong. That too is
part of being an American. However... right now i'm very
concerned with what might happen now that we're in this...
i wish that the protestors would find another way than by
taking up the time of our police force.. to me that's just
asking for trouble. If you want to work for peace then
feed the hungry.... clothe the poor... donate your time to
helping others.. Don't protest the war by beating the crap
out of people that are for it.... Killing in the name of
religion is like fucking in the name of virginity...
well.. that falls directly into that category. Don't be
stupid... don't be part of the problem.. be part of the
solution.

more later....................
