my stupid mouth

MIA

today was the day when the juniors and seniors who are
alreaday members of nhs (national honor society) "tap" the
sophomores who are to be inducted. it's built up to be way
more exciting than it really is. i think many years ago
(aka- when my mom was in high school) the whole tapping
thing went on all day. like, you didn't know at what point
during the day you would be tapped and taken away from the
monotony of high school life. well, now the whole thing
basically consists of sitting in the cafeteria for a half
hour listening to your nhs leader talk about thingsa that
have nothing to do with the tapping. then there is a mad
rush to sign your name next to the name of the person who
you want to tap. then you go off and find them in their
classroom and tap them, and they follow you down top the
cafeteria for more speeches by the principal,
superintendent, and other people who think they have
something important to say. finally, you get doughnuts and
bagels and sunny delight about an hour or so later.

there were 2 people who wanted me to tap them, but when i
went to dign up they had both already been taken. in fact,
i had been so passive about signing up that almost everyone
i knew had already been claimed. i ended up tapping this
kid (known as either mikey t or jean-pierre) from my french
class. i could've just picked someone i didn't know, but i
knew how i felt when i didn't get a personal tap last year;
someone just said my name. and it didn't look like mikey t
was getting tapped by anyone he knew, so i just did it.
and we went to get him out of health class, and that was
when i realized how awkward the whole situation could get.
i suppose i don't know him that well (only that he tries to
steal my glory in french class by getting really good
grades), but i guess it was okay. i mean, i know him, but
i don't really KNOW him. yeah, so, it's all good, man.

and then the big mystery of the day. where was jeff?
hmmm, let's review. right when i got off the bus (and my
bus is the first one to get to school), i heard someone
call jeff's name over the intercom, telling him to go to
the office. now, cristin then saw him, jmk (this kid that
looks so much like john mayer that it's creepy), and some
other kids leaving the office and leaving the building
afterwards. she thought that it had something to do with
cars. for instance, one of them hit another's car or
something. but then jeff wasn't at the tapping thing. and
then we got to history, and everyone was like, "i saw jeff
this morning. where is he?" and dan claimed he's never
been absent (but he definitely has and i remember exactly
which day (there are reasons for that) but i didn't want to
sound stalker-ish by saying so). we had a substitute in
history so that gave plenty of time for us to hypothesize
and to discuss jeff and joel's rap song, which dan has not
heard, but he also thinks that it must be really bad/funny
because "joel's so white." (that's a quote right there)
then someone suggested that maybe jeff and joel are going
to do their song for the talent show. but we figured that
neither one of them would be gutsy enough (and i don't
blame them). so i solved the mystery in study when i heard
a girl saying that some kid who was anounced as being
absent had gone to some computer competition, whatever the
f that is. then i remembered that i had seen jeff get a
field trip paper signed in english one day, so i made josh
ask that girl about the computer thing. turns out, there
is some kind of computer competition in providence that a
bunch of guys went to with mrs. richard (who is emily's
mom...connections). so what exactly is a computer
competition? what do you do there, and what's the point?
at the sadd meeting, i tried to get some details from
emily, but i think she was either as lost as i was, she
didn't feel like explaining, or she didn't want me to know
that her boyfriend went as well. (ooh, did i tell you she
has a boyfriend? :) ) so it's probably the first one.
the funniest thing is that jeff makes fun of us math team
members and then he goes to some computer competition. ok,
this explanation's length and degree of detail are way more
than its importance. oh well. dan seemed really concerned
about jeff's whereabouts, so i don't feel so bad.

i guess nothing else of interest happened, but i have a ton
to do. and when i have plenty of time to do it, that's bad
because i procrastinate.
