someone you cannot know

a practice run

#1 knew what would happen, for his fear controls his mind
#2 knew what would happen, she knows what my heart is like
#3 knew what would happen, but then he knew all the time
#4 knew what would happen, as the actions were all mine

and this, i understand now, is my life
and even hand-outs will come with a price
yet somehow, i will gladly pay it, twice what i should
for love--and razors--in this neighborhood

the blood swells to the surface now, but only in my mind
(i hope that) i am not this stupid all the time
