Hi. My name is Phoebe.

I am thirteen years old, fourteen in May. I am in eighth
grade. I live in Costa Rica, but I am American. I am
bilingual in both English and Spanish.

These are the things I love most:

a) MUSIC. That's definitely the top on my list.
Specifically, u2, Coldplay, The Police, Red Hot Chili
Peppers, No Doubt, Madonna, Beck, Sade, and Lenny Kravitz.
To evaluate my musical taste, I would say I like a lot of
rock, moody ballads, jazz, with a great love of classic pop
and ska.

b) WORDS. I haven't had much time to read lately, but when
I do everything else becomes second priority. My favorite
book, by far, is "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger.
The others are the "Harry Potter" series. A bit immature,
but I do love them. I also devour magazines, "Rolling Stone"
especially. I would like to work on it when I'm an adult.

c) FAMILY. A bit selfish to put them third on the list, but
at least they are on it. My mother's relationship with her
fiancé (she's a widow) is a bit sketchy right now, but I
think they will make it. He has four wonderful brats.
Without them I would be an only child. I don't want to ever
be the type of teenager who neglects her family. Not only
because I think that is a really dim-witted thing to do, but
I really do love them, quirks and all.

To describe my personality, I would say I am an
intelligent, talkative, affectionate, slightly cynical but
joyous person. I have a lot of love and appreciation for my
life.

I am also very visual. Some people might consider that
superficial, but I have been surrounded by artists since I
was an embryo. I don't think of myself as such. I appreciate
an esthetic sense of color and shape, but I don't base my
sole opinion on appearance. That, in my way of thinking,
defines a superficial person.

My physical description: I am petite, about 5"3. I am
fair-skinned and freckled. My eyes are green, my hair is
dark. I am pretty. That might sound egocentric, but it's the
truth. No one is ugly except for people who consider
themselves to be.

In school, I am well-known and mostly well-liked, though no
cheerleader (I am on the basketball team, thoúgh). I have
plenty of friends, and lots guys have crushes on me, though
I don't have a boyfriend right now. I am kind of waiting for
this one guy, who I will simply refer to as "E" in the
future.

I think that is about it. I am home from school with a
cold. I am listening to u2's "All that you can't leave
behind". It's excellent--go buy it if you don't own it
already.

I hope to be better tomorrow. It's a pleasure to make your
acquaintance.
