Go Norah

Can I just get a "woo woo" for the Grammy crop this year?
The likes of Norah Jones, Bruce Springsteen, and the Dixie
Chicks being garnered with mucho awards is just cause for
freaking celebration. No Britney! No N'sync (beyond that
laughably bad BeeGees imitation)! Very little Eminem! Oh,
it was glorious. Of course we had to put up with the
mediocrity/sheer suckiness of John Mayer/Vanessa Carlton,
but then Sweet Baby James came out to show 'em how it's
done, so it's all good. I still wish they'd given the Boss
Album of the Year because Christ, how is it possible that
he's never won? But yay for Norah Jones, who is very cool
and cute and talented. She actually said "shit" during her
speech when she was trying to remember names, heh. Faith
Hill, the aforementioned "singer/songwriters" (how about
next year we replace them with Michelle Branch and Jack
Johnson?), and Avril Lavigne all sucked monkey butt in
their performances. Rather like Coldplay, turned off Eminem
and Nelly. Somewhat disappointed in Bruce just because he
looked like he was in PAIN. Also wasn't too thrilled with
the Chicks, but ONLY because I've seen them perform that
song so many damn times. Definite hightlight? Bruce, Elvis
Costello, Dave Grohl, and Little Steven doin' the Clash.
Fuckin' yeah, baby.

Viewing is Tuesday night, funeral is Wednesday. I'll be
missing two days of school this week.

I feel much better after spending yesterday at Grandma's,
though. We looked through pictures and watched this old old
home movie of somebody's where everyone was young and
beautiful and my oldest cousins were just babies. Plus
Michelle's girls were there. I LOVE Sarah and Mary, they're
adorable. Sarah doesn't slow down for a moment. There are a
lot of kids in my family, but I've never seen one with so
much energy. And mmm, the Messanis brought yummy cookies
and Bunny made divine lasagna. All in all, a sad day but a
surprisingly good one.

Sincerely hope the India map isn't due today, as did not
finish it.
