A Quiet Sunday

It was a quiet day. I woke up at 4:30 a.m., did laundry,
dishes, read the newspaper, checked my email, all as usual,
but at 6:30 I went back to bed and slept until 10:30 a.m.
My left ear has been bothering me and now it turns out
John's left ear is also bothering him. Wow! Talk about
togetherness!

I made a brunch of orange juice, coffee, omelets and
croissants which we ate just before noon. Then it was a few
hours of housework and quilting. Late in the afternoon we
went to the country house and fed the sheep and Harold the
gander, watered the garden, and picked tomatoes, cucumbers,
zucchini, and green peppers to take home.

Gavin is making tacos for himself and Hugh. John and I are
going to have chicken livers and rice. To each his own.
Gavin showed me how to do instant messaging and I did that
with Owen this afternoon. His roommate never showed up and
since classes start tomorrow, it's unlikely he will and he
said someone on his floor helped him connect his computer to
the network so he can use the shared printer.
I told him to find his mailbox so I could send him cookies,
brownies, and other treats but it's unlikely I'll mail them.
I'll just bring them over. John also suggested that we can
even have lunch with Owen once in a while to see how he's
getting along. That boy is so thin I want to make certain
he eats. It'll be nice to have him so close.

Gavin has decided to apply to Oregon State, MIT, and Johns
Hopkins so we start again with getting all these
applications out by the end of the year. Fun, fun, fun.
NOT!

Today is the first day of fall but with the highs in the
upper 80's it certainly doesn't feel like it. I have
noticed that the leaves on one small branch of the
snowball bush is turning so it's coming. Patience.
Patience.
