Nigga Jamie

I miss my homeboy Jamie. I met him this year from a friend
of mine who I met last year. They went to the same high
school and she knew he was starting school here in the fall
and wanted to see him. He had spent the past two years in
the Army so it had been awhile since she had seen him. We
got along pretty damn well. He liked to drink lots of beer
and so did I. It was a match made in heaven since I was now
21. We would always go up to our friends Danielle and
Tracy’s room and drink there. Once they kicked us out
because they wanted to sleep we would sit outside and finish
our beer then go and pass out for ourselves. At first this
was not good for me because I did not go to any of my Friday
classes for the first four weeks of school. I was simply
too hung-over from the night before to go to them. It was
all in good fun though. Jamie smoked and right outside of
the door by our friends’ room was a little stone wall
perfect for sitting and drinking at. So this was our new
thing sit out there on the nice nights and drink beer and
just have some good ole’ fun. Oh and how much fun it was.
One night I was in the University Center eating and I was
thinking ahead and got one of the very large trash bags they
use. I knew I was going to have a lot of empty cans by the
end of the night so I was just planning ahead. That night I
met a couple new people. A girl who’s name escapes me at
the moment (Jamie and I both ended up forgetting her name
and just called her brown eyed girl, because she had the
most beautiful brown eyes) and Jamie’s friend Robbie. We
were already out there when Jamie and Robbie showed up and
Robbie remarked on how I was talking to this girl because he
was shocked to find out I had just met her. He thought by
our conversation that we had been friends for a while. That
was a fun night. After a while of doing this Jamie and I
got tired of having to walk our drunken asses all the way
down the hill back to our dorm so we said hell why don’t we
just drink in Jamie’s room. That’s what we did from then
on. We were getting to the point where we would be drinking
a twelve pack a night for each of us. We also got the game
“Deer Hunter 4” now this was exciting. We would just tell
people we were “drinkin some berr, killin some derr.” It
was very amusing. We would also go and workout together.
It is always good to have a spotter when you are lifting
heavy weights. So we went to classes, lifted, and then
drank. That is how it went for a while. Then Jamie’s
lovely friend Amanda started coming down. This was fun
because we were on the Kappa Sigma hall in Albright and
whenever there are hot girls around things start to get
rowdy loud music and drunken fun. Oh man you cannot beat
that with a ten foot stick. Also I started to go home with
Jamie on the weekend to watch his brother play football. I
had become a Maiden High football fan from when I went home
with my friend Danielle one weekend. It was something about
it that made me want more. I love it, it is action packed
and it is like the whole town shuts down while the football
game is going on. I wasn’t used to this kind of attention
to a football game where I was from.
Jamie and I were alike in many ways. We shared stories
about our lives and had some good laughs. After sometime of
Amanda coming what seemed like every day, Jamie started to
go visit her more often. She went to a different university
about three hours away. I started to see less of Jamie, but
it was all good because they are good for each other and I
like to see it when two people are happy. We all went out
to parties and had a lot of fun and I really do miss Jamie
and Amanda too. She is a very beautiful and smart woman.
For those who don’t know Jamie is no longer here at W.C.U.
with me. Amanda got pregnant and they decided to get
married. They have a place in Maiden where they are from.
Amanda is still going to classes this semester and Jamie is
working. I don’t know if they know how much I miss them,
but I do. I had a lot of good times with them and I can
only wish them the best in everything that they do in life.
The baby is due in late August and I am kind of excited
about it. I don’t want to have a kid of my own right now so
I guess the next best thing to do is play with my friends’
kid. I know I am probably leaving out a lot about him but I
can’t remember too much about all the stuff we did. We
consumed quite a bit of alcohol together. There was one
night were we had decided to get some liquor some good old
Jim Beam. We would have killed the entire half gallon in
one night if it wasn’t for me leaving and ending up talking
to a person who I really didn’t know all that well for hours
in her dorms stairwell. I have pretty interesting ways of
meeting people I guess. Most of them involve alcohol.
Another great weekend was when Jamie’s brother cam up for
the first time. Oh man that was a rough weekend. That
Thursday I decided to stock up n beer for the weekend so I
bought three cases of beer. The next day I went to the
liquor store and bought some Smirnoff vodka, the 100 proof
kind. I also bought almost a case of 22oz cans of beer.
Well, by the end of the night on Friday two fire
extinguishers were stolen, by me sadly, I had roughly 45
beers and 5 shots of vodka. Jamie had about a case of beer
and the rest of the bottle of vodka. Amazingly none of us
got sick, except for his brother but it is ok he is still in
high school, he couldn’t handle drinking with the champs.
At the weekends end about 8 cases of beer were all consumed.
It was amazing, I wasn’t sure if we could do it but we did
and I was so proud of us. There were so many drunken fun
nights I don’t think I remember all of them or if I do I
don’t remember them well enough to write about them.
To end it I would like to say to JAMIE, thanks for a great
semester I had sometimes I will never forget about and some
that I cant remember. If you ever need a laugh just
remember when were in the weight room and I let 245 pounds
fall off of the bar. Then we left to go get some beer and
get drunk. I’ll keep in touch.
