Chinese Foooooooooood

Yeah anyway, today is Chinese New Year. A normal day for
me. Went to sleep this morning at 3:00 Am and woke up
around 10:15 AM. Took a shit, put in my contacts, brushed
my teeth, the daily routine, ate some breakfast and went to
art class at 11:30 AM. Art class was fun. I got to paint
today. I'm painting this picture of a house on a rocky
cliff that's surrounded by water. The fun part is that I
get to do it in my own style of impressionism...yay. My mom
picked me up after class and we went to Albertson's to get
some groceries.

Sadly my grocery shopping isn't as exciting as Ericka's but
it was still kinda cool, cuz i haven't gone grocery
shopping in a long time and for some strange reason, i
happen to really enjoy it. we got some moo juice [milk],
pasta, pasta sauce, cream cheese, string cheese, chicken,
and strawberries. i saw the little stack of los angeles
times near the entrance of the store and there was this
little sign that said "It's a bird. It's a plane. It's a
FREE SMALLVILLE POSTER!" and it showed a little bit of the
poster that's supposed to be in wednesday's issue of the
newspaper. of course, being the smallville punk i am i
already knew this like a month ago. so anyway since it said
smallville on it and had part of the poster i took the
sign. i realized how pathetic i really was. then i was at
the magazines debating whether i should buy the current
issue of tiger beat...i mean did i really want to pay 4
bucks for a teenybopper magazine just cuz it had a tom
welling poster in it? and the thing is, the picture of him
is a promotional smallville picture, meaning it's online
and the magazine just printed it on nicer paper at an
enlarged size. i didn't want to pay 4 bucks for that, but
on the other side was a daredevil poster, a miniature of
the regular movie poster. i prolly would have bought it but
i didn't cuz i got that daredevil poster from school.
geez...whatever, screw tiger beat, just full of crap. so
after the supermarket we went home and i went online and
then i ate a late lunch which was one of those frozen
teriyaki rice bowl thingys. then we went out to visit my
cousins and maternal grandmother who live about and hour
and 15 minutes away from me. we didn't even end up going to
sushi, which was our plan, cuz we figured every chinese
restaurant would be full since it's chinese new year. we
ended up going for american food AGAIN. it was a very
chinese new year...NOT. i mean, we didn't even have the
equivalent of panda express. then my brother pointed out
that at least me and him are staying close to our chinese
roots- we had a teriyaki bowl for lunch- yeah...soooo
chinese, not. at least thats better than my parental units,
who didn't really eat any chinese food today, they didn't
even consume rice, which is the staple of most asian
cultures. how sad, we're so american, i think this is like
the first very untraditional chinese new year i've ever
really experienced. oh yeah, we even kinda broke the
chinese rule that says 'eat only vegetarian on new years
day.' oops. i think today i ate a lot of chicken and i had
some ham too. oh shit...i hope the dragons won't come out
and hunt me now. i'll fight them with my kryptonian powers.
o wait, i'm not from krypton like clark kent. oh well.

today was a sad day too, the columbia space shuttle story
was all over the news. that sucks, the thing blew apart and
all seven of those astronauts were blown up. that's like
the challenger thing, but the challenger was 17 years ago.
i remember learning about the challenger when i was really
little, even though it happened while i was still sperm and
egg. my mom has this tape called challenger: american
pioneers or something very close to that title. she bought
it when we went to kennedy space center at cape canaveral
when i was 3 and we watched it and it kinda freaked me out
to the point that whenever i saw that tape in the
collection of videocassettes, i'd get chills and
frightening images in my mind. that's what's kinda scary
about the columbia ship...and if it turns out that it was a
terrorist thing, which is highly unlikely, those bastards
should rot in hell. there's just too much reality going on
right now in the world that i've been pretty much oblivious
to since i live in such a nice little town thats in a nice
little country. the columbia just kinda opened me up to the
reality of the world and what's really going on....possible
war with iraq, and all those other issues. god, i hope
nothing bad really happens, the world just seems so chaotic
right now. i'm just happy that at this very moment that
nothing bad is happening that threatens my life...i mean
there are civil wars in foreign countries that have been
lasting for years and i just realize how lucky i really am.
my thoughts go out to all those families of those 7 brave
astronauts.
